yes, they look more like tennis shoes... but i like it that they have been given ak's.

Its probably a training exercise which probably required running and other physical activities before this picture was taken. Target practice is usually the last one as you want your force to be tested and trained when they are physically and mentally exhausted. Result would be better performance under tense and physically hard / challenging environments.

I think these units are or were being trained by some help from the American instructor on COIN and Quick Response ops.
