The outstanding debt of the province stands at Rs414.556 billion at the end of fiscal year 2011-12.
This debt consists of Rs59.844 billion domestic loans and Rs.354.712 billion foreign loans.

The foreign debt rose by around Rs10 billion. It was recorded at Rs344.514 billion in June 2011. New loans amounting to Rs13.590 billion were taken and debt worth Rs14.788 billion repaid by the government in 2011-12.

Another Rs11.396 billion was added to the province’s foreign debt on account of the depreciation of the rupee.

The domestic loans declined from Rs76.147 billion (in June 2011) to Rs59.844 billion. Loans amounting to Rs16303 billion were repaid in the outgoing fiscal year.

The government had in May 2011 announced that it would not take more foreign loans.

Outstanding: Punjab

So that means had Rupee not depreciated Foreign Loans would have decreased by Rs1.198 billion while domestic loans have declined by Rs 16.303 billion. Considering the power shortage Punjab government face bcz of federal this is great performance by SS team. Well done

Dear, the baisc differnce is "Niyyat" between both governance....

Federal Government thinks that this rein is their privilige and remains so forever....so no needs to be worry about credibility Whereas Punjab Government believes its a noble cause on its shoulders and it remains os only if they performs well, so they always trys to deflect criticism only with improvements in governance.....and that's a big big difference.!!

Sorry but that debt would have drastically decreased if billions were not wasted on different promotional projects like sasti roti, laptop etc, because on ground these projects were of no benefit to the poor common man. instead of spending billion on laptops if SS had only computerised the land record in punjab that would have created several thousands jobs for IT related unemployed youngsters. Laptops don't ensure jobs in future for students.

Wasting billions on Sasti routi, Why not such amount of money put in to computerized land record projects? We all know How failed the sasti roti project was!

Computerized Land records going side by side. But we cant leave poor ppl who cant buy food for them. Hve to do something for them

PMLN managed both and still got rid of something debt.

and how can you say sasti roti was a failed project when thousands benefited from it

I think we should shift our focus towards Western Pakistan. Ties with countries like Iran and Afghanistan can improve to the point where we can make each others as trading partners and as potential investors. A province like Balochistan especially is gifted with Deep Sea Ports, Mineral Resources, and all 4 climates to have an agriculture sector.
