Hong Kong is a late stage capitalist hellhole. It's nice if you're rich. Most HKers live in tiny apartments and the city is very run down and frankly very uncomfortable.

Mainland China's large cities are actually far better planned, cleaner, more modern, have large parks and green belts and boast a higher quality of life for the average citizen than Hong Kong. That's the objective truth.

Also Hong Kongers have a reputation throughout the Chinese world for being physically ugly and just generally assholes. It's been true imo for the most part. HK women are ghastly unfortunate creatures.
