I don't think it's because Suzuki hates Pakistan. Rather the taxes are too high for imported cars.

It's the other way round actually, people here started to hate Suzuki as they think they have been taken for a ride, for too long literally, by producing junk cars like Mehran specially, a 30 plus year old variant with no changes, no improvement, no nothing...

So it is their own mistake and misdoing that they try to fleece and make a fool of people here in Pakistan....now even if Suzuki introduces high end models in Pakistan...people here associate Pak Suzuki as a company which produces junk like Suzuki Mehran...what goes around comes around.


Now the choice for new variants are increasing in Pakistan, on the other hand Honda Pakistan has started local assembly of BR-V in Pakistan, mean to say it was just a matter of time, 3-4 more new players entering Pakistan shortly. One reason Pak Suzuki is worried, and changing...

Not high now because market is full of imported cars and people are tilting towards them due to quality and features they offer.

Low end WagonR is priced, as per the OP is 10.5 Lakh which is around 6.6 Lakh INR. While a WagonR would cost around 4.2 Lakh INR of which Tax is 1 Lakh INR (incl all). in India

Either Suzuki is ripping you guys off, or the tax is too damn high.

@Pluralist I think that's because there are still takers for Mehran. If the sales go down then gradually it will be discontinued.

Now Mehran has been discontinued, finally, abandoned and done away with.

It is economy of scale also, if you look at the car sales figure in India it is many times more than Pakistan, many more variants and choice available.

BRV is one of the crappiest looking cars in Honda's stable. It looks much crappier in flesh than in the pictures but the vitara and ciaz are great cars. Do you have any other cars from Honda's stable. The WRV looks great, it's making good sales in India but BRV has been an utter flop and they halted production of that model in India soon after it's launch

Being crappy is a subjective thing, different people tend to have different liking and disliking... In few months or so it can be judged it is well received here or not a success.

I don't like Auto Transmission.

Celerio is a good car. With good looks and a nice price. But I don't think if it's available in Pakistan.

Suzuki can't import the cars (in Pakistan). The taxes are so high. So, they have a basic factory which manufacture small cars. Although I'm not sure about it, may be ask @Zibago about the Suzuki manufacturing stuffs.

In pakistan celerio is coming with the name cultus ... its manual and around 12.5 lac so double the price you paying without any features ... without even AC

Dunno then. They're really putting automatic gear boxes/AMG's within reach of the common man with cars as economical as celerio(4 lakhs) and all having them.
They're now even planning to put AMG's in alto!

I think by 2020, 25% of cars sold each year will be automatic. Thanks to Suzuki and Hyundai.

In Pakistan, the Celerio has been launched as the Suzuki Cultus and has been priced at around INR 800,000. So you see, they are really crappy here. But the thing is that, the people are not stupid. The Celerio (cultus), at least in my view, has not sold well here, and all other cars that Suzuki didn't price correctly got rejected.

They are the market leaders by volume but only because their 800cc Mehran is the cheapest car in the market, and now that is also being hammered by 660cc Japanese kei car imports.

Yup it is, and its not selling well for that reason.

No, they're pretty good. Infact they are bringing new technologies at prices lower than competitors, one of the reasons they are market leaders across South Asia.

I just purchased 15 days back WaganR, its really good car.

It's more like a modified version of the Honda Mobilio with a funny looking back. Let's see how Pak will receive it. I am waiting for the launch of HRV in India, it's a great contemporary looking car and hopefully Indian version gets the features offered here in the US
