By hardline you mean, Salafi? Maybe two are, Philips and Vogel. Don't know much about Vogel as he mostly talks in German. Rest are close to mainstream.

I think Philips is follower of Salafi 'Methodology', as he himself puts it. Prophets of God weren't following any methodology or ideology.

Mainstream Muslims follow Quran and Sunnah and examples of the righteous Khalifah. Not something diffuse like 'three generations' of Muslims following the Prophet, which is obviously an ideology. There were civil wars among these generations.
