Explaining how the kit works, Hasmukh Rawal from Mylab said, "We might have prepared this now but we were working on something like this for a long time. As the fingerprint of a person is unique, the RNA of the virus is unique too. The World Health Organisation has specified that at least two finger prints should be tested. Along with this, multiple reactions need to be checked too. We have also modified it so that the confirmation and screening can be done in three tubes only. We also managed to reduce the time from 7.5 hours to 2.5 hours. So more samples can be tested in a day."

Till date, the Indian government has been sourcing millions of testing kits from Germany to facilitate testing to diagnose coronavirus patients across the country. However, it is becoming a problem now as the supply is getting affected. The process was also lengthy leading to delay in the test results. The company has claimed that within a week it will be able to supply 1 lakh testing kits which can be put to use immediately.

In a statement issued regarding the kits, ICMR stated that the recommendations have been issued after due screening. “ICMR NIV Pune has completed evaluation of 09 non-US FDA EUA/CE IVD kits. Only test kits with 100 per cent concordance among true positive and true negative samples have been recommended for commercial use in India. ICMR has recommended two RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test kits for use in ICMR approved government and private laboratories. These test kits have been found to have 100 per cent concordance among true positive and true negative samples.”

Does Singapore has it own kit? Is it accurate?
To be honest, for all your diatribe against India, you may end up needing a test kit from India to test for infection. I have not seen one single Singapore based pharma with quality testing equipment for Covid (https://sph.nus.edu.sg/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/COVID-19-Science-Report-Diagnostics-23-Mar.pdf).

All had some thing in prototype without even one available in mass production. So much for Singapore.
