Wow! It looks like the Chinese are slowly but surely taking over Pakistan, soon making it one of its autonomous regions like Tibet. If this goes on, then it probably will, within the next decade or two! :woot: Just like Tibet which is now called the TAR (Tibetan Autonomous Region), Pakistan would soon be called 'PAR' (Pakistan Autonomous Region)!!

The next aspect of note is that Beijing is a fair weather friend for Islamabad.
Ooops! This is incorrect! 'Higher than the mountains, deeper than the oceans and sweeter than honey' which means that Beijing is Pakistan's ALL weather friend, not 'fair' weather!!

Cheers!

We already took Arunachal Pradesh in 1962, we defeated India in BOTH sectors (easily). :D

And the Indian Army couldn't do anything about it. The only thing they could do, was hope and pray that the PLA considered Aksai Chin more important, and that they would decide to voluntarily withdraw from Arunachal Pradesh.

half a division against more than 8 divisions the outcome is not surprising nonetheless Indian soldiers had the higher kill ratio stop living in 1962 its 2012 what happened in 1971 when you guys threatened to intervene in our war with Pakistan? you guys didn't do sht when we had troops in AP instead you guys watched us break Pakistan in half.

as a long-standing ally of Pakistan, the People's Republic of China reacted with alarm to the evolving situation in East Pakistan and the prospect of India invading West Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir. Believing that just such an Indian attack was imminent, Nixon encouraged China to mobilise its armed forces along its border with India to discourage it. The Chinese did not, however, respond to this encouragement, because unlike the 1962 Sino-Indian War when India was caught entirely unaware, this time the Indian Army was prepared and had deployed eight mountain divisions to the Sino-Indian border to guard against such an eventuality.[58] China instead threw its weight behind demands for an immediate ceasefire.

Chinese interests in Gilgit/Baltistan is not only for Gwadar and warm water port in the Indian Ocean. This is also the land route for connecting China to the Central Asian Republics. Trade and connectivity to the CAR gasfields, as not much gas is coming from Russia which sends most of its gas to Europe. This is the means to bypass the Malacca Strait route for China's energy imports.

A rail line across the KK is not feasible due to the highly seismic nature of this area. The KK highway will remain prone to frequent disruptions due to nature but it does shorten the present turn around time via the Malacca.

India's response? Fingering around in the South China Sea is no answer. Are we in a position to militarily support any action in the South China Sea? Not yet. The answer lies in us strengthening our presence along the area facing the KK area. Withdrawal from the Siachen glacier is no longer an option for us. It is much much easier for us to interdict the KK Highway in case of war rather than the Malacca. We should simply build up our interdiction and surveillance capabilities in this region. The more the resources poured into this route and the more dependent China/Pakistan get on this route, the better for us as the greater will be the disruption when this route is interdicted.

Having stated the above it is very obvious to me that China will develop this route only till a certain point and will never adopt it as a commercial route which is an alternative to the longer ocean route through the Malacca. This route is just too vulnerable to be relied upon by China in a major way. It is too close to Indian positions on the LC. All we need to do to close the KK Highway is to position some long range artillery on the Siachen Glacier. Even medium guns with extended range projectiles will do it.

The point about China using this area to check on Islamic terrorists moving from FATA to Xinjiang is pure bullshit. Better routes are available through Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. By sitting in Skardu one does not prevent infiltration into Kashgar. Friendlier areas and safe heavens are available just across the border from Kashgar with the support of ethnic brothers.
