Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber blocked ‘indefinitely’ in Bangladesh

Not yet check but I heard from today facebook is unblocked in Bangladesh.

This ban is designed to protect the Awami League from criticism over its pro-Indian policies and its handling of the war crimes trials ...
Transport that's te main reason. I just read a horrible news that leader mujaheed was hang without informing ng him before. He was in deep sleep at 11 pm and hanged at 12.55a.m.

You would still need to access Facebook with your password and it doesn't mean that the government isn't monitoring who is cheating ... The whole ban might also be just a trap.
You are fine with the facebook password.. and if you use TOR intellegently and dont reveal your identity in facebook page itself, you are fine. You cant be traced...

So basically there is very little I can do on Facebook even while using TOR than just to see what others are writing or doing ... I can't actually input anything without being caught. I know that my FB profile is monitored so if I post anything then alarm bells will start ringing.

Well one outcome of the AL policy is that I spend no time on Facebook and more time on PDF. Surely that is not what they wanted?

Still can't access Facebook. No announcement on the news.

I'm surprised she didn't do it sooner. Uproar took place on social media, if it wasn't for Facebook many Bangladeshis would not know about the 2000+ murders that occurred in Shapla Square. Or Ilyas Ali and Bangla Spring.

'Facebook using in alternative way a violation of law'

Using social media with alternative means after the government imposed block on that is a violation of the law, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim has said.

While talking to the media at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon, the state minister said the social media, including Facebook, will be unblocked as soon as soon as Home Ministry will take the decision regarding this.

She said whenever the Home Ministry will feel it safe, we will then to unblock the social networks.

She also said people who are using social media with the alternative means, they need to be careful that it is high likely their ID could be hacked.

I am avoiding using methods that bypass the government block as accessing and using my page indicates what I am doing and by deduction even if someone uses a fake ID they can eventually be tracked. I have got someone else to update my page from Europe and America which would not be illegal -
