Facebook apologises, says removal of Hamza Ali Abbasi status was mistake

Abbasi urged the West to revisit and fix its definition of ‘freedom of speech,’ adding that failure to do so would result in someone from the vast comity of Muslims may go “ballistic and kill unjustly.”

So in your opinion what does it mean, "some of the Muslims may go Ballistic and kill unjustly" ??

I thought I stated what I think he meant; I could repost what I stated or you could go and re-read it for yourself.

Warning against what? More attacks? More bombs? And that is a justified reaction? right?

and so the writer suggests that the best way is to be afraid of those crazy Islamist terrorists and that whole world should be afraid of those thugs? Wow now everyone in world has to be afraid about the terrorist Islamists before writing or speaking anything.

What a great suggestion from Addasi, "Don't speak or write anything which the terrorist don't want, or the terrorists will kill you."

"Don't speak or write anything which the terrorist don't want, or the terrorists will kill you."
Those words are so twisted, I wouldn't expect that from GEO :P
If I were to ban freedom of speech and expression, in any given country, how would you think the reaction would be? Do you expect the people to just take it and move on?

Yes please let me know what you understand by that statement from him, coz I failed to get your meaning.

But to me it pretty much sounds what it is. He is saying to west, Change your ways or some of the 2 Billions Muslims will go Ballistic and Kill unjustly. In short he is asking the world to give in to the terrorists.

I want to know how it could mean anything else.

Abbasi says:

Fix its definition of ‘freedom of speech,’ or someone from the vast comity of Muslims may go “ballistic and kill unjustly.”

What does the two parts mean:

1) Fix the definition. What does he mean by fixing the definition?
2) someone from the vast comity of Muslims may go “ballistic and kill unjustly.” What does he mean by this?

and lastly what happens if the west does not fix the definition? Please inform.

I know he told the possibility, but Abbasi is a coward.

Abbasi solution is to "Change the definition" or to avoid printing or speaking or writing stuff that might hurt the terrorists or Islamic radicals.

Instead of telling the terrorists to go **** themselves, he is asking the world to bow down to terrorists.

I close that sxit years ago, there is nothing plus in it and if someone need a community site to communicate with other peoples use local one.

Overall membership for FB continues to rise ever higher from Muslim countries, so it must be doing something right.

The way I see it hes saying in so many words 'We condemn this act of barbarity which is unjust, misguided and completely unsanctioned by Islam but at the same time if we're going to call a spade a spade we should also say that this duplicity, this lack of sensitivity and at times borderline libel is contributing to the problem' !

If highlighting the problem while underlining the probable consequences of what could go wrong is 'threatening' or 'giving in to terrorists' might we also believe that every time someone highlights the social and economic issues or the absence of justice as contributing factors to an insurgency in insurgency hit areas, is in fact a threat to 'change your ways or someone will go ballistic and kill unjustly' ?

He just asked not to derail the emotional sentiments of Muslims by publishing such cartoons...he said that it hurts every Muslim but MURDER IS STILL PROHIBITED meaning he oppose every of such actions.... Can you take a good note out of everything he said?

1) By fixing the definition he's referring to removing double standards when it comes to Free Speech. Freedom of Speech applies to every one of the 7 billion people living on this earth. It's a right, and not a privilege.
2) By that he means that there may be a difference of action in the Muslim population. I'll answer the 3rd question at the same time. You can't accurately predict the overall reaction of a large group of people. I may resort to peaceful protest. The person next to me may go and attack Facebook's data center.
Also, you seem to accept, in your post that the west's definition of Free Speech is wrong.

Finally, @Armstrong 's reply appears to comprehensively explain all of your misgivings. +1

Facebook did the right thing..People should be getting insulted our questioning legitimacy of something.
In the case of Islam the blasphemy is really strange..speak any truth about Islam or Prophet and it is accounted as blasphemy!
