F35-I(Adir): News,Videos and Pictures

What threats would make the F-35B a high priority for Israel?

The possible accurate targeting of Israeli air force's take-off and landing's runways by modern ballistic threats like those that Hezbollah has managed to acquire.

Makes sense.

Looks good. I'm yet to see this thing at any of the local or nearby airshows up this way, but probably next year.
Is it well received by the IAF or has there been any issues? One of the Israeli members mentioned there were some problems, is that true?

It's currently being integrated into the IAF, no special problems there.
It'll take a bit time until u'll see it in international exercises but they already flew more than once in Israeli skies.

I knew Dani was full of it lol!

Not international, I'm talking about local US shows which it performed many times last summer (2016) and the closest show to me would've been a 9-hour drive. So we figured it would come up this way this summer since there's a very large airshow at the Westfield AFB in the western part of our state, but they never put it in as part of the lineup. Maybe next year.

Those T-6 Texans are pretty nice little birds. I've always liked that big monster Sea Stallion. When they put the air refueling probe on those I thought they were nuts lol. It must take some steady hands and a lot of training to refuel a helo in mid air, especially a heavy one like that with all those rotor blades pushing air down.

You guys do your airshows with a mix of us Arab style (formation fly-byes) :D and American style (the F-35 minimum radius turn and weapons bay opening up) haha. Very cool.

Israel tests F-35I refueling procedures

Israel has begun an evaluation campaign using its air force's fleet of Lockheed Martin F-35I "Adirs" to test locally developed systems and aerial refuelling procedures for the type.

The trials are a key step as the air force works towards initial operational capability for its Joint Strike Fighters.

Aerial refuelling tests have been conducted from Tel-Nof air base using one of the service's Boeing 707 tankers.

Israel received its first of an eventual 50 of the conventional take-off and landing A-model F-35s in late 2016.

At the risk of starting a nasty debate, I'll ask the question anyway: when is the obvious use of these F-35's going to be? Will they wait for all 50 of them to attempt a trip to Iran or will they try with a lesser number in inventory?

None of us has the answers to this question so that subject is invalid

IOC is expected by the end of this year, with only 7 or 9 of them.
