ISLAMABAD: Terming his visit to China as successful, chairman Senate standing committee on defence and defence production, Senator Nisar A Memon has said that Pakistan and China have jointly started manufacturing of F-22 Frigate that would help boost the defence ties between the two countries.
Talking to newsmen on his return from China here on Thursday, Nisar Memon said production of F-22 Frigate would be another symbol of friendship between China and Pakistan.
He said that total four F-22 Frigates would be manufactured with three in China and one in Pakistan. ââ¬ÅPakistan would get its first shipment of the joint endeavor in 2009,ââ¬Â he added. The ships, he said, would be assisted by one helicopter each, which would be prepared by China and Pakistan.
Senator Nisar Memon said during its visit, the delegation called on Chinese think tank. He said Pakistan and China have joint trade of six billion dollars. The joint defence production, he said, would not only help strengthen defence of the two countries but also promote ties between them.
New Recruit
The above is Pakistans and the last one is of the Chinese Navy.
The article is false. Firstly Pakistan only ordered 4 F-22P and has not yet placed additional orders for $150mn U.S. each - not $200mn. Secondly the F-22P has a displacement of about 2500 tons - not 3000. However there are plans of proposing a heavily scaled up frigate based off the F-22P for the PN's next-generation frigate requirement.
Which part? The scaled-up F-22P? The 4 frigate requirement?Thank you; but can you provide the source?

both if possible
I think manufacturing that one F-22P would give KSEW or rather the Pakistani shipbuilding industry a practice or warm-up run. The PN is planning to procure 4 new frigates and intends to have at least two of them built in Pakistan. From what the PN disclosed about the new frigate project, it is pretty clear that these will be larger, better, more advanced and more sophisticated than the F-22P.Seems to me there will be further changes in the F-22p frigate and it is a long term plan to mature the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works. Building one frigate is probably nothing to them knowing that they will need huge assitance with it.

In the 2010s Pakistan will be building:
- At least 3 Milgem Class Corvettes
- At least 2 "New Class" Frigates
- At least 3 U-214 Submarines
- Maybe 2-3 additional Agosta-90B Submarines
- That 1 F-22P Frigate
- Fast Attack Crafts
