Its not a dream. There is nothing on the F 22 that is mystical and incapable of being surpassed.

All depends on how much we invest in the J 20.

I'm not saying the F-22 is going to be unsurpassed....but couldn't America just develop something better, if they're not already in the process of doing so? USSR goes to space, America goes to moon. Same concept.

Well maybe but a lot of that is going to the F 35. I.E the most expensive military project in history and we are paying a large portion of it.

Current sixth gen concepts also don't hold the same overwhelming advantages fifth gen planes held over 4th gen ones.

The much touted 6th gen UCAVs hold no advantage whatsoever over current fifth gen planes.

Its not that the advantages are not dramatic but the UCAVs currently shown would get torn apart by fifth gen fighters.

Its a step backwards in any case.

But why can't we just make another 5th gen that's better? Does it have to be a sixth?

Could always join the air force. F 35s will be for everyone unlike F 22s.

You have to go through Officer school to even touch one of the older models, and even then your chances are slim. Everyone wants to be Tom Cruise from Top Gun, but the sad part is that it's a small percentage compared to all the other jobs that need to be done to maintain the metal death machines in the skies. If I did join the airforce, I'd probably be one of the technicians maintaining the things, given my automotive background.
