F-18E first flight 29 November 1995. F-22A first flight 7 September 1997. Less than 2 years gap. By comparison. F-15 first flight 27 July 1972. F-16 first flight 20 January 1974. Less than 2 years gap. F-15 and F-16 same generation. So I say F-18E and F-22A same generation.

. . . . . .
No. F-18 and F-22 are not from the same company. They are same gen. Less than 2 years apart.
it was a simple question , What you wrote does that fit F18E Yes or No
company and year of construction isn't the thing which classify generations of platforms
Raptor and hornet are designed with different systems and different goals
Same as you cant put piston and jet engines in same group
E block is the continues evolution of hornet, while Raptor was a new platform

To be honest, this is a stupid thread.

You just contradicted yourself.

And no the F-18 and F-22 are not in the same generation, as meaningless as that classification is.

F-18E is built around new larger engines. It is a F-18 redesign like Mirage 2000 is Mirage III redesign.

Raptor and hornet are designed with different systems and different goals

F-18E is cheaper, so it does not have AESA like F-22 has.

That would make jf 17 thunder same or newer gemeration as well by that methodology. Not to mention that method makes tejas tue 6th gen or latestest gen aircraft by that standard :P

There goes ur theory. Biggest blow being tejas samosa which isn't even 4th gen yet.

Boeing and Lockheed are obviously not the same level. Boeing is bad at making fighter jets. Lockheed is good at making fighter jets. That's why F-22A is better than F-18E even though they are the same time generation.

You are clueless bro.

Time generation a new word... Did u know actual capabilities of an aircraft determine its class and generation level? Time stamp is meaningless.

Traditionally air force fighters and navy fighters are on par. P-40 and F4F. P-51 and F6F. F-84 and F9F. F-4 used by both air force and navy. F-15 and F-14. F-16 and F-18. F-22A and F-18E. F-35A and F-35C.

If you think F-18E and F-22A are not the same generation then please give a reason.
