F-16 Ready for the Future

LOL .... I wonder from where Pakistan came into the discussion.

Anyway

F16 india have in MRCA is F16IN. There is no such thing as Block 70. Its fanboy name.

This is Lockheed martin's website page on F16IN. If there anywhere written Block 70 on this official page of lockheed martin do quote.

F-16IN Super Viper | Lockheed Martin

Dude, IN does = Block 70
Infact you can call IN a fancy name but not the block.

tornados are 4 th gen fighters.....and f 16 are 4.5 gen fighter......i knoew that F 16 s are superior than tornadoes but not than typhoon

All blocks of F-16 are not 4.5 and we are talking of first gulf war. the same is the beauty of F-16, it has improved itself over the decades. The question asked was why UK did not have F-16s in its inventory. Typhoon is just a smart baby which is very good and competitive. It is yet to prove its worth.

.
i think pakistan think tank made a big mistake we should have atleast 120 F 16 in our inventory till 2010 but we end up with 75 and now prize is that high which we cant buy anymore but i think pakistan still negotiate with USA for 35 More F 16 to get our inventory over 120 and than go for J 10B in first batch buy 50 in next 10 years time we will be good till that time but dont know why our military think tank wasting money on Visits and Vip jets if we cut those of i think we can buy any fighter jet in the world

if you dont know answer be silent rather then answer and lose respect.

I feel there is some truth..!

UK started Tornado programme around the same time as F-16 evolved. But there were less buyers for Tornado and F-16 became a successful fighter and exported to many countries. One reason behind is the successful US innovations in Radar & BVR missiles and up gradation of F-16, whereas UK had no own arsenal to add to Tornado. So they integrated American avionics and weapons on their fighter jet.

EF programme has started as early as 1983 with France, Germany, Italy and spain. But they achieved first flight in 1994 and introduction to AF in 2003. (Modern jets will take time to evolve)That may be the reason behind UK didn't go to F-16.

Feel free to disagree...

"F16 is ready for future"

but
Is it ready to cope with F35 and F22s ??? :undecided::undecided:

F16 great legendry War plane.

Block A/B fantastic agile WVR dog fighter

BLOCK 52 great multi role platform with BVR

Block 60 became heavier designed for multi role strike and BVR mostly.

Stil today looks futuristic but completely outgunned out moved by new 4.5 generation fighters like

Euro canards , SU30MKI/SU35 and FC20

F-16 is surely an awesome platform. But modern fighter jet are getting bigger and bulkier (perhaps because they don't have to worry about dog fight due to BVR capabilities) and F-16 isn't big enough to accommodate all those "needs".

Wait; Pardon me but i couldn't understand the list of those countries cn someone tell meh ?

F-16 lived a very glamorous life among the different NATO and ex-CENTO/SEATO forces totally. But now it has outlived itself and anyone considering its purchase is simply buyting into an old aircraft in a new package. Block 80 offered to IAF is as new as it can get but the future of light multirole fighters belongs to SAAB Gripen NG, Tejas series (Mk-2 onwards) and FC-1.

Gripen is more agile and versatile than F-16s, has a lot of advantages over it and still somehow is not able to withstand the American charm offensive on different countries.

And on what basis did you reach this conclusion, its absolutely absurd. F16 might be a design from the 70's but it has continued to evolve throughout the years, same can be said about the F15 and F18.

The Desert Falcon in its current configurations can take on any jet one on one; whether its Rafale, EF, SU30MKI/SU35. If the F16's would have been outdated, the Turks or the Israelis would have never invested money into it, its just wishful thinking that the F16s have lived their lives. The USAF is replacing them because they have a budget of $700 billion, which other country has a defence budget that big.

I don't know which future multi role fighter aircrafts you are talking about because the F16 is a proven multi role fighter aircraft which is extremely cost effective. Its avionics, weapons, radar and electronic warfare suites are without the best in the world and in some cases better than those of EF and Rafale. The partners of EF are reducing their orders and Rafale has yet to find a single buyer, tells me how successful they are :P

F16 like uae

bloc 60 and the customized sufi from Israel can go against modern 4.5 gen fighters but these are the best in the world nothing like those in paf f

The Block 52's that PAF is acquiring and the old F16's that are going through CCIP will make their avionics the most advanced up to date, even better than those of UAE. Their ECM pods and Reconnaissance pods are the latest of what the Americans have to offer, they would be customized according to PAF's requirements. The only thing where it would lack compared to Block 60's would be the radar, but thats not a problem for PAF as these F16's would be linked to PAF's extensive radar network coverage. Although APG 68 on its own is a very potent radar, its radar resolution and coverage is quite extensive.
