Extension of General Raheel Sharif

The man has performed brilliantly so let's start a public campaign for his extension as an Army chief for at least 2 more years. Pakistan is in very crucial and important stage. Zarbe Azab is at its final stage and he has full grip on CPEC. That's why his extension is more beneficial than his retirement.View attachment 350241
bad idea
he needs to pass the baton to the next in line. he has war hardened and experienced Lt Generals with 30+ years of experience.
he has set the tone and set the course now its his time to take a back seat while his popularity is still high

Sir, the little I know about this situation is that the man comes from a most distinguished family and he doesn't want it. That's the behavior you'd find in any "real" leader. Real leaders bring about a lot of change in their respective area of expertise but when their time is up, they want to gracefully leave, and also leave a legacy of leadership, discipline and professionalism behind. He wouldn't want an extension because then anyone doing any good work, would want to be rewarded and stay in power longer, no matter how beneficial or not he may be. Thanks.

For the twentieth time, he doesn't want an extension. He is by the book general and he will retire by the book.

I know that is hard to understand for Pakistanis because most of the time who come to power don't leave their chair willingly but this is why we love Raheel even more.

below is my opinion so take it or leave it
the ambiguity is because PM Nawaz is being pressurised by the foreign countries to appoint someone who is not recommended by Raheel.
my guess is that Nawaz is told to reject every name what Raheel puts forward and suggest someone instead who might junior and of not the correct skill set to run the forces and thats what Americans/ Indians want .. someone who is a worse form of even Gen Kyani.

It is your opinion and a biased one because of your dislike of nawaz. In your book. You'll find something negative to say in any appointment made by nawaz.

The fact still remains that Raheel at no point alluded to wanting an extension. He's not interested, the only ones interested are the politicians and people who don't like nawaz.

Cus he didn't do anything besides smoking and drinking?

Nawaz would want that more than the Indians :P
agreed.. I mean Indians or Americans or Ugandans would not mind a weak COAS but same would be the case with Nawaz
he is pretty much a Sultan and Sultan doesnt like it when a general outshines the popularity and favour from the public.

I dont hate Nawaz. I pity him
one one hand he has the Pakistan military behemoth to deal with where he cant install his Dars or Khawajas or Mirs... and on the other hand it is his investments inside India and the west that are at stake if he doesnt comply with the foreign pressure

I
Look like the majority wants him to retire on a high note

If he retires as scheduled. He might have a bright future in politics. If he gets an extension, he would have lost his charisma by then
guess he won't go for politics... he is a thorough soldier and a complete gentleman... moreover he comes from a martial race... so, it's my personal opinion...
But if my any odd chance if he does decide to go into it.... I'll be the first to vote for him :)

Yep pity him for he will select the boss you will overwhelmingly praise for next three years despite him being "worse" as you put it. Their's but to polish and shine.

And here is my opinion. Nawaz wants someone who won't topple him, whether that someone comes at the recommendation of Raheel doesn't concern him.

Nawaz has more money than either of us can imagine so he could care less about how his investments and factories are doing around the world.
