Many people may know the JF-17 Program is one of the biggest success stories in Pakistani Aviation sector.

In 90's the Project started with Investment of about 250 Million dollars, from Pakistan and about 250 Million dollars from China

A collective figure of 500 Million Dollars

Back in 90's , 1 Dollar gave you about 20 Rupees :big_boss::blink:
The whole program cost us about 10 Billion Rupees (10,000,000,000)

Had we decided to start the JF17 Program in 2018
500 ,000 ,000 Million would have been equal to 62,000,000,000 (62 Billion dollars)

It would have cost us about 52,000,000,000 (52 Billion Dollars) about 420 Million dollars more

Still we see blind love for Nawaz / Zardari even after looking at facts and statistic

It would be interesting discussion to ask the question the Rupee stability during Musharaf time fast traked Development on JF17 Prototype which eventually came a reality around 2009

Today as we explore the economy and tax situation in Pakistan it has become almost Urgent that Pakistan under goes Massive Tax reformation in order to return the devaluation of currency and bring strength to Pakistani Rupee and National Defence Major objectives

Hahaha. As much as how I support and love the JF-17 program, I can’t help but reject your argument. This is one of the dumb arguments that is floated around by people who have no understanding of economics. The USD-PKR exchange rate is not something that represents a “price”, but it’s a relative term. It only gives a rate for the business transactions on that day, and it’s not intelligent to use it in a historical perspective. The correct way to judge old transactions is to convert the PKR amount to the current rate, and that gives actual cost.

So USD 250 Million investment in 1990’s actually meant PKR 32 Billion cost, and that is before considering the fact that this investment could’ve generated returns such as how motorway did over its lifetime. Additionally, it is ridiculous to think that Musharraf’s era was a great economic renaissance. Musharraf rules at a time when the whole world prospered, and while the world went 100 steps forward, Musharraf squandered our wealth by indulging Pakistan in importing BMWs and Mobile phones. Had he built power plants instead of leasing split ACs, we would’ve not seen load shedding like we did in 2008-2013.

But fools will follow anyone who tells them what they want to believe.

Well our currency was higher value and less of it was needed to get us the plane fully operational

this jet is not worth its cost.it is better to start new project

Who told you dollar was equal to 20 RS in 90s? Very ill informed and foolish writer

Well our currency was higher value and less of it was needed to get us the plane fully operational

The currency value is not an indicator of financial strength. For reference, do you know that Japanese Yen has had an exchange rate of 100 yen to 1 USD for so many years? Even when PKR was 60 to 1 USD, Yen had a lower exchange rate. Does that mean Pakistan was richer or more powerful than Japan?

What is important is what development takes place, and how competitive a country is in the world. When Musharraf neglected building power plants, it took ten years for our textile industry to die. Now it will take twenty years to rebuild the same industry. This is why Pakistan is suffering today.

This is not to say that I don’t support the JF-17. I think this is one of the most brilliant programs in the world. But no country in history has survived which doesn’t build its economy to support its army.

The economic damage since 1990's is quite visible to be seen and the stats are from a Currency valuation site

If Pakistani Student was planning to Study 4 years , 30,000 Dollar degree , Pakistani rupees he needed were 7.5 Lakh rupee. Today that rate is astronomical 3 Crore 75 Lakh

The impact on all areas of economy is massive as well when we import car , when we import cell phones , when we import electronics , or even Used cars

Some decisions were Taken in 90's which is why we managed to complete JF17 Thunder and Tanks and Submarines and Missiles program otherwise we would be stuck with no funds for fighter Jet purchase

Pakistani people or TV channels will not talk about this simple Graph and it's rise during each of Nawaz/PPP terms

It's factual data from currency tracking sites

We can reverse the trend by Taxation reform , and reviving the stalled corporations
so new projects can get launched requiring less Currency / investment

when world is moving to 6th gen jets and we have also started separate 5 gen project azm then it is not wise decision to waste our money in this project which not give a proper 4th gen fighter jet and is not even used by china.china itself not rely on jf17.it is better we should spend money on better quality jets.jf17 will be shot down by sams easily

You're all wrong bro look we are learning process (R&D, Manufacturing , design, develop ) through JF-17 project, its better to rely our-self rather than a relying on some foreign country for maintenance, parts, logistics etc etc @Muhammad bin Hamid

And look and the positive points we are building 4 gen jet directly how many country did this and as for being easily be intercepted its about tactics utilize by respective AF to how wiil used low/medium end fighter against superior enemy, and as for your this concern why world are building & developing 6th gen jets, tell me how many country are moving to develop 6th gen jet Russia,China, USA and EU and those 6th gen jet projects is to be be completed in 2030 mostly and produce afterword, bro there no shortcut in any developments R&D, we are rightly developing 5th gen jet @Muhammad bin Hamid

Who was governing Pakistan in the 1990’s? It was Benazir and Nawaz Sharif. They were the ones who set money aside for these projects. Why wasn’t anything done in Musharraf’s time? Why nothing happened other than importing Split ACs and BMWs?

Why was it that all development took place during democracy, even when Pakistan faced complete sanctions from America, and nothing happened during Musharraf’s dictatorship, even when Pakistan was received $30 Billion in aid from America???

Every major road was built by Nawaz Sharif and all major power plants were built by Benazir. What happened??

Please read up first. Don’t believe in propaganda.

friend,
our politicians have no interest or say in defense projects. the funds for strategic research and weapons procurement are pre planned and done by civil/ military experts.
dictators made dams which politicians failed to do and have vowed never ever to allow anyway. yes moterway credit goes to Nawaz

The decision to allocate some funds for JF-17 came from Military 100% they forced to reserve some funds for this project. Otherwise , the governments we had 90's ,00's all had more interest to take international loans instead of fixing the economy

You only have to see the acceleration in fall of currency from 1990's when 18.84 rupee was equal to 1 Dollar this was in my own life time. It was not like something which happened 100 years ago

One of the strangest things I found was during that time our Agriculture produced Bumper yield and crops year to year , decade to decade we have doubled trippled our production
  • We had better farming
  • We had better Tractors given to Farmers
  • We introduced Fishery farming to Pakistan
  • We had better animal breeding and number of animals grown in Pakistan

1 rupee difference in currency happens after almost 1 Billion dollar of manipulation is done

Here is one of the talked about Motor ways one is here mere 350 km long
This 1 motorway not made with Titanium that caused a massive drop on currency
in 90's

MOTORWAY.png

All of these already existed in Pakistan
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Highways_of_Pakistan
Linking of Karachi-Gwadar was done under Musharaf's time

Musharaf.png

musharaf2.png

I am certain majority of Pakistani might have a misconception that Nawaz sharif constructed all these Motorways and highways

So I though to actually do a check to see what exactly did Nawaz Sharif do

what has this got to do with my post?

if in 30 yrs we develop only one jet with such amount and with china support then it is slow work.with this speed such projects will become expensive due to currency devaluation

No way, China will help us and may be Turkey also, and look bro its good to achieve this long term goal, may be China support us in designing (fuselage development ) phase, and avionics and radar build by Pakistan with a help of Turkey, so i think i assume that first flight will be 2028-2030 and mass produce afterword, if we achieve project AZM in time it will be huge boost in almost every fields (computer to sensors, radars to Fuselage) may be in engine field also, forget a cost but think what will be gains from the development of project AZM @Muhammad bin Hamid bro:angel:
