Featured Ex PN Chief Zafar Mehmood Abbasi highlighted PN modernization

I saw some research papers by Pakistani researchers which hint at the fact that a SOSUS-like system with AI-based sound signature detection and classification is under advanced stages of development if not already deployed.
He also hinted what seemed like AI based video analytics for security applications. Object recognition?

Yes. License plate recognition and facial recognition. Nothing classified about this project. Some of my professors have worked on it too in the past.
Would be nice to deploy video/TI sensors across the coastline, linked to AI Analytics to monitor and flag suspicious(terror/smuggling) activities being carried out from sea front via boats/launches.

PA: we ordered VT4 and no one knew
PAF: we're developing Project AZM
Navy: hold my ocean...

I'm not used to our armed forces providing so much actual information, so this is hard to process.

But it's excellent news.

Just to put things into perspective...we all got the MILGEM wrong. Not only is the PN going for 4 fully customized ADA corvettes (with VLS), but it's also developing a new frigate (i.e., 5th ship). This is just mind-blowing, and we haven't even gotten to absorbing the other stuff.

This was the ideal scenario, and none of us could've imagined it because of the 'Pakistan can't have nice things' syndrome we've had to go through for so many years.

For me division size marine force and expansion in ssgn is something very peculiar. What would be the significance of this expansion?

Maybe the actual question is..."what are the Army and Air Force doing with their money?"

If you listen to the CNS' whole speech, it sounds like they have a financial management policy and very detailed long-term revenue and outlay plans. They've also (seemingly anyways) done a better job at assigning the right people for certain development posts (e.g., emphasis on uniformed PhDs at NRDI). It can just be that all of these projects are a sign of the PN's competency.

Now that the Chief has said it himself, I can talk about the fact that all of PN new ships and subs are being designed with deployment / collecting capability of a vast number of networked UUVs. This as well as underwater unmanned platforms, -- not sensors. But shooters. =) PN has outdone itself. But they have had help... in planning as well as execution.
