Such a clueless post. Why would idol worship hurt muslims? Idol worshipping is in reference to the idols of Al-lat mannat and Al-Uzza, the three statutes in Mecca pre islam.

It is in reference to the golden cow and the sacred stones and why Jesus, Moses and Mohammed peace be upon them were sent to mankind to turn them in prayer to allah (SWT).

If you are going to talk about a subject, read up on this history first.

Don't you think his and the Pope's statement - " Those who insult Islam should expect to be attacked" is rather Insulting to Islam itself?

But can the civilized world control the actions and thoughts of madmen? For the record, Islamist violence hadn't decreased, it increased by tenfold.

The war on terror had increasingly become a more conventional war. It is not a battle of armies as was in the Cold War, but inclines more to a battle of ideas. Pretty nasty ideas at that.

I am not really surprised by the Pope's stand. The Catholic Church traditionally is, can be, and has been a close match for the most conservative form of Islam down the ages. In fact, possibly more, though the recent centuries have brought more smoothness to their methods, and better cloaking under the garb of enlightened modernity. Rest assured, the concept of blasphemy was not discovered by Islam nor is it its sole adherent.
