I feel that all the ex-intelligence chiefs in Pakistan who spend their retired lives being experts on international politics and defense matters should be eternally banned from appearing on any kind of media in or outside of Pakistan. These folks whether they are from the ISI, MI, IB etc should be spending their retired lives in shadows and anonymity rather then blaring out their inner thoughts and beliefs to the entire world through national and international media. I feel that some sort of written MoU should be in place for these chaps after retirement to keep their mouths shut and whereabouts essentially non-existent.

What says the forum here? Lets have the YAY's and the NAY's!

. .
Next someone will propose to exterminate them after they get retired!

Why are we so intolerant towards the opinion of others? It appears that the dictatorship has sunk deep into the marrow of our bones. We simply can’t tolerate an opinion different than ours. My way or highway, yet we let go no chance to bash Hitler, Stalin, Bush etc. Hypocrisy at its best.

I dont think Gen Gul was de-classifying any state secrets. He has been expressing his opinion on certain issues. At any rate, he has been away from the PA for more than 17 years. I believe so far he has not broken any law or otherwise PA would have court martialed him for treason or whatever. But may be, you guys have better intelligence than the PA on the miss-conduct of Gen. Gul. May I suggest you to file a petition in the court of law, that way you'll serve the nation in more a better way.

Let them have freedom of expression too. As qsaark said if they had violated anything they would not have been able to open mouth again.

So relex and tolerate views from others too no matter how opposit these views may be but real bravery is to face others when you feel threatened by them not to eleminate them and stop them from airing their views.

btw, what he meant , when he disclosed all the major details, of PA sUPPORTING mujhadeens, i never saw any cia officials , openly talking about thier missions in genral media.

he was using his PA, background to find a way into pakistani politics, from where he was kicked out, & where he cant find any value for himself.
like most of defence related persons, in the history of pakistan , he couldnt realize that thier era , had been finished. therefore he & people like him doesnt have any role, even they can open thousand stories ! true lies?:agree::tsk:

another, example was of late (***lt.gen) kiyani talking about LAL MASJID, PA using , DEADLY force on the terrorists. how you can describe it.:tsk:

I have the same answer. PA is doing its job, if these ex-servicemen cross the line, the'll be prosecuted according to the law. There is a system in place, you dont have to worry about that. If you are not satisfied with the system, file a petition in the court of law.

Why the laws are made and the courts are established? So what do you propose, bickering?

If you have a person less corrupt than the present CJ yet suitable for the job, put forward his name. Wrangling wont take you no where.

Insulting the other forum member; Is this the best you can put forward?

Govt can put a ban, but, except few majority of ex military commentators are decent. .We should remember military has role in Pakistan politics and remain will be their, it just disappear for while but behind the curtain, its still their.Plus recently free media is exploiting everyone Even if they know any ex military servicemen has gray corner, they love to drag him in lime light. So, no problem if military person say somthing in media, but always watch out from sneaky journalist or anchor person , like Shahid Masood. But yes Hamid Gul some time cross the line in patriotism, may be his overflowing patriotic emotions.

I agree with qsaark we should allow them on tv it is their right because alll of the ex gens are experts and they deserve to share their opinions.
