Ex-army chief VK Singh tried to topple J&K government: Report

General VK Singh is the worst Army Chief : Brajesh Mishra

Former national security Advisor Brajesh Mishra has said that General VK Singh who currently embroiled in a bribery scam is the worst Army Chief so far and that General Singh is a failure. Mishra said the Army Chief has come across as weak. Amid the ongoing row between the government and the army chief, former national security adviser held both responsible for not taking action on the bribery allegation but wanted Gen VK Singh to be sent on forced leave.

“My view is that both the minister and the army chief are responsible for not taking action,” he said commenting on the allegations by Gen Singh that he was offered a bribe of Rs 14 crore for clearing a contract for trucks and had informed the defence minister about it. Brajesh Mishra said V.K Singh has certainly behaved in a way which no Chief should ever behave. There is a view that after creating a crisis for his government, it would be improper for this chief to continue.

Brajesh Mishra said that General General VK Singh, currently embroiled in a bribery scam, should be asked to go on compulsory leave till his retirement to save the government and the Army further embarrassment. He should be told that enjoy your two months vacation with government salary and then take pension and go home.

General VK Singh is himself responsible for this and in order to make it even more, let’s say funny or jokingly, he took it to the Supreme Court. And when you take this to Supreme Court, is any body going to say ‘We don’t know about General Singh and we are not going to say anything about it’?

General V.K. Singh seriously undermines the morale and strict discipline of the Indian Army. The Supreme Court of India has nailed and called the Chief of Army Staff,General V.K.Singh a liar and politely called him so and indirectly asked him to quit. The standoff between General Singh and the defence establishment over his date of birth has become a public spectacle. The biggest casualty is the institution of the chief of Army staff, and the reputation of an admired force.

Bl00dy idiot Congress wallahs!! They know they're gonna get screwed at the hustings and so are now busy finding scapegoats to throw muck at all and sundry. Mulayam has been let off the hook because of his support to Congress while people like Gen VK are being vilified. Col Rajavendra Rathore, now a BJP spokesman, better watch out too. The Cong's dirty tricks department will go to any length to vitiate the atmosphere and slap false, baseless accusations against their rivals.

They need to be taught a lesson in 2014. :pissed:

Where did i said that ? Court made No actions against IB All such jobs are done by Caged parrot "CBI"

No Honourable Exit for V.K.Singh,SC Nails Army Chief

The Supreme Court of India has nailed and called the Chief of Army Staff,General V.K.Singh a liar and politely called him so and indirectly asked him to quit, though the language it used is not indicative of this.

Having been advised thus, Singh faces the Hobson’s choice; if he does not quit it means he has no self respect; if he does he admits having been a liar.

Why can’t the Supreme Court haul him for providing false information and punish him?

By the way, what is Honorable the Supreme Court has found in him?

SC not in favour of entertaining Gen Singh’s petition, gives him option to withdraw it.

Recognition of Gen Singh’s date of birth as May 10, 1950 by Army does not suffer from perversity and is not grossly erroneous: SC

Gen Singh has to abide by his commitment and honour his letters of 2008 and 2009 accepting the date of birth as May 10, 1950: SC

No prejudice was done to Gen Singh and government has full faith in him: SC

Singh’s writ petition was not for determination of date of birth but for recognition of date of birth in official records: SC

Apex court says looking into constraint of judicial review, the decision of government on his date of birth will continue to be there: SC

We want to ensure that Gen Singh continues to work as Army Chief as he has been doing: SC.

Having given his commitment and assurance of abiding by the government decision, he cannot resile: SC to Gen Singh.

Accept May 10, 1950 as your date of birth: SC to Army Chief

New Delhi: In a major setback to Army Chief General VK Singh, the Supreme Court, while hearing his petition on the controversy surrounding his age, on Friday directed him to accept May 10, 1950 as his date of birth and asked him to withdraw his plea or else the court would pass an order on it.

While observing that the court respected the "pain in your heart", the two-judge bench of Justice RM Lodha and Justice HL Gokhale asked General Singh not to wash dirty linen in public and added that the government had full faith in him. The court added that no prejudice was done to the Army Chief in the case.

"We want to ensure that General Singh continues to work as Army Chief as he has been doing," the court said while pointing out that the General's writ petition was not for determination of his date of birth but for recognition of date of birth in the official records.

The apex court said that looking into constraint of judicial review, the decision of government on General Singh's date of birth would continue to be there.

General Singh's date of birth in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) records is May 10, 1950 while he claims that he was born on May 10, 1951, which is also mentioned in his matriculation certificate. The court told the General that the UPSC document was the most relevant document for recognition of age.

The judges questioned General Singh on his petition, asking him why he did not get his date of birth corrected with the UPSC that had recorded it as May 10, 1950. General Singh was also asked what made him fill the Indian Military Academy form mentioning his date of birth as May 10, 1950.

The bench pointed out that all documents at threshold when General Singh joined the National Defence Academy and the IMA recorded his date of birth as May 10, 1950, which the Defence Ministry maintains is the official records.

Observing that all threshold documents show General Singh's date of birth as May 10, 1950, the judges said that it was clear from voluminous documents that General Singh's date of birth as May 10, 1951, but the question was that in primary documents his dob was May, 10 1950 and it would be taken as a final date for service matters.

General Singh's lawyer UU Lalit was also directed by the bench to either withdraw the petition or the court would pass an order on it.

Earlier, Attorney General Goolam E Vahanvati told the bench that even though the government was resisting General Singh's plea, it was are not against the highly decorated soldier.

:) could be so we can apply the same notion on individuals aka judges wrgt to other cases too?

do they side with political parties ?

Though this is not politically correct - but usually the ruling party has a great say. Let me give you an example - the family of a judge is a soft target. Just by saying that 'we will take care of your family' a sweet sugar coated threat can be given. It is difficult for anyone to ignore that. :(

Allegations come after he shared dias with Modi.

Wonder where they were before.

Same was done against Air chief PV Naik and VM PK Barbora.

The same CBI mentality. Threats.

I am wondering whats next, bringing out the details of all clandestine operations in the media to stop Modi from coming to power in 2014?

We need to stop this menace called Congress, or else this country will no longer exist in 20-25 years.

You sir, should be ashamed of yourself. You have humiliated our ex Army Chief in an International Defense Forum and that too saareyam! Any self respecting individual would think twice before trying to score points at the cost of denigrating one's own army chief. Just look - A forced retirement order! And boasting that here! :hitwall:

Mind it - I am not saying VK Singh was right. I am saying that throwing mud at one's ex Chief at the expense of minimal sense of decency is P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C. :suicide:
