Evidence in hand against Tarique, Coco: Qamrul

Dhaka, July 1 (bdnews24.com) -- Strong evidence are there against Khaleda Zia's sons Tarique Rahman and Arafat Raman Coco in various graft cases, says state minister for law Qamrul Islam.

"The trial in Tarique's money-laundering case will begin soon …there're strong evidence against him," the junior minister told a programme at the National Press Club on Friday.

Qamrul, however, said the law will take its own course as the judiciary was working independently. ....

Tarique was arrested on Mar 7, 2007 on charges of corruption during the military-backed caretaker government. He went to London on Sep 3, 2008 after his release on bail on Sep 3. Coco, arrested on Sep 3, 2007 in GATCO corruption case, is abroad on parole since July 19, 2008.

Coco, the youngest son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, was convicted of money laundering and jailed for six years, and fined Tk 190.41 million on June 23.

About the July 10-11 hartal called by 12 political parties, mostly the Islamic ones, the minister said opposition leader was behind all this as she had been the 'patron' of fanatics and zealots.......

Dark days ahead.

Though Coko, Traik or whatever is a crook, he nonetheless are Khaleda's sons.

It matter is Bangladesh since, it appears, connections matter and you can't fool around with the son of a rising star and the next PM!

There will be turmoil in the name of democracy but in actual fact to cover the misdeed of Cokeo and Traik and brush it under the carpet.

Thats the conclusion you came up with? And I genuinely believed you had some brains.
Anyways, it does not take a genius to figure out that this cases are politically motivated. This are being used to harass the opposition so the current govt can fulfil its demonic agendas. Off course, the cases whether valid or invalid does not matter right now. Don't look at the actions, just look at the agendas. If Khaleda agrees with Awami League, the cases will be almost repelled as of tomorrow. And since, you have decided to take an interest on Bangladeshi internal affairs, I would suggest you to do your research on Qamrul Islam first. He's not a pleasant man.

Thank you.

That you are capable of having the wherewithal to have any belief is in itself a wonder. Therefore, desist from wondering if I have the brains.

If politically motivated cases can be given a judicial dekko and then people are convicted, it does not speak very highly of Bangladesh. Yes, Bangaldesh and not political parties!

How can anyone harass anyone if he is convicted as a crook, which they are, as is so evident.

You are the people who make an open and shut case of gross criminality into a political issue.

I was talking about people like you in Bangaldesh, who find action against criminals and criminal cases as case of political vendetta.

If you are suggesting that a country whose judicial system bases its judicial business on politics is a functioning country, then it really takes the wind off the sail. That way, South American countries pale before the politico judicial shenanigans of Bangladesh as you are suggesting.

Ki Bichitro Desh!

You had the temerity to wonder about my brains, but you should look within first.

Imagine those claiming that they are educated find criminals to be no criminals but victims of political vendetta!!

Bole so nihal!
