It's plain simple theatrics from India. There is no back story to the picture, for all we know they both could be wearing costumes for Halloween, but Indians want us to believe that there is super religious harmony in India and the one genocide of minorities per decade rate of India is a myth.

Everyone is free to have any opinion or live in denial or illusions.

India is not perfect or no one is perfect we do have redials like dr. zakir naik and legends like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Many takes pakistan as united or in harmony even when there are:

Ethnic cleansing is going on in Baluchistan, sindh

Or genocide of Bengali Muslims in East Pakistan.

Or killings of Ahmadiyas, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians

Or genocide of Shias like lahore, karachi, mardan, peshawar, queta blasts.

Its just matter of perspective what one want to see or believe.

I found that picture refreshing. It's not about doing somthing to "fit-in". It's about religious harmony.

Why fight? Why not instead live in peace? I've had "Hindu" friends that participated in Qawwalis, Indian friends that speak in an "Urduish" style to accomodate me. For instance, the use of the word "Masla" or "Bhai".

Hindus don't refer to each other with "Bhai" or "Mia", yet several Hindu friends of mine do it to me. Does that mean that they are trying to fit in? Or seek harmony?

listen buddy, look in the mirror before you point fingers at us, your country has a pretty bad record of oppressing innocent people and occupying their land against their will, we all know what happened to Babri Masjid and the events of Gujrat! We don't need you to teach us anything, no thanks!

This is how people lose their identity and no wonder Indian muslims are fast becoming alienated. Cursed is a muslim who emulates asthetics or dressing of other religions. name one country in this world,

1. where there have been no riots
2. where people don't kill each other in name of religion, ethnicity etc.
3. where people are not discriminated against
4. where minorities are not threatened
5. where majority does not at times impose its will on the minority
6. where inter-religion strife doesn't exist.

Now my dear Paladin,

name one country in the world which despite all of the above,

1. Is growing at superfast speed
2. Is acknowledged the world over as a present regional power and a future global power (not superpower)
3. Is largely peaceful (at least in relative terms) as compared to states whose foundation is based on much more homogeneity.
4. Is having a world spanning diaspora which is largely acknowledged as peaceful, accomodating and progressive.

Paladin, I can go on and on. I hope you get my point.

We do have our fair share of problems. We never were perfect neither are we today.

But my dear, nobody, not even our biggest dieshard enemy can deny, that we have more or less succeeded in preserving our wide diversities under a single umbrella of peace and progress.

I don't say we are the best. But we are working to be.

Meanwhile, it never hurts to acknowledge what's good and what's not not even when it concerns your die hard enemy.

I do not have that attitude and trust me aside the regular PDF troll kiddies, most of Indians have more or less the same attitude as I do.

I'm not a saint neither is my country nor do I claim that we are.

And Hindus, Sikhs or Christians also celebrates our festivals with us with same spirit and joy.

Muslims, Hindus join to celebrate Eid, Durga Puja

Patna, Sep 30 (IANS) Hundreds of thousands of Muslim and Hindu flood victims in Bihar are supporting each other celebrate Eid and Durga Puja at relief camps.Muslims are helping the Hindus offer prayers to goddess Durga by sharing their resources, the nine-day religious festival that started Tuesday. Hindus are helping Muslims prepare for Eid, which will be celebrated either Wednesday or Thursday.

“Even in time of distress, Hindus and Muslims are living together and celebrating their festivals together in peace in the relief camps and other temporary shelters. It is an example of understanding each other,” said Nitish Mishra, Bihar disaster management minister.

Zahid Ansari, in his 40s, living with his relatives at a relief camp in Saharsa district after the change in the course of the Kosi river made them all homeless, said they would celebrate Eid with the help of Hindus who provided whatever possible and assured they would celebrate the festival together.

“It is not easy to celebrate Eid in relief camps but help and cooperation from others (Hindus) gave us morale boost in time of crisis,” said Ansari, once resident of a village in Supaul district.

In another relief camp in Purnea district, Naushaba Khatoon, 30, mother of three children, said her happiness lies in the support she received to buy the traditional vermicelli prepared for Eid, new clothes for children and a new sari for herself.

“We were supported and helped by them (Hindus). They behaved like our relatives. We hardly face any trouble,” added Khatoon, who is upbeat after her husband returned from New Delhi a few days ago.

“People, mostly Hindus, are arranging sewai (vermicelli), sweets and dinner for Muslims outside relief camps,” said Kamla Prasad, an activist working in Madhepura and Saharsa districts.

As Durga Puja started in various relief camps Tuesday, “a Muslim family gave us some money to purchase essential things for puja from a nearby shop,” said Ramesh Sahni, a landless labourer at a relief camp in Saharsa.

Sunita Devi, about 40, was helped by Mohd Shaukat. “Shaukat brought traditional utensils and other items for the puja from my house, risking his life,” Sunita said.

The Bihar government had also directed district authorities in flood-hit areas to make special arrangements for Muslims on Eid and Hindus on Durga puja.

Officials in the disaster management department said the government has decided to distribute special food during Eid and Durga Puja. “People will be fed sewai, kheer, puri and aloo dum during the festivals,” they said.

Principal secretary of the disaster management department R.K. Singh said “the government had already provided traditional food items like dates, fried flat rice, germinated gram, jaggery, and ghughni for the Muslims who were fasting during Ramadan”.

It is estimated that 700,000-800,000 Muslims were badly affected in flood-hit areas, particularly in Araria and Purnea where Muslims account for 40 percent of the population, followed by Madhepura, Supaul and Saharsa districts, where the Muslim population is 15-20 percent.

The Bihar floods have so far claimed over 50 lives officially and affected over 3.2 million people. The Kosi river, sometimes called the ‘Sorrow of Bihar’, changed course after almost two centuries following a breach in an embankment upstream in Nepal.
