Hımm...your history is different from ours...there have never been (or had been for very limited time) Turkish city states. There was Seljuk Empire(1037-1194), then Ottoman Empire(1299-1923)....city rivalry is non existent in Turkey.

But some turkish empires who fought each other.

i know. Italy back then was many small city republics. its a strange concept today but it mostly worked.

One of the worst rivalry is between Kayseri and Sivas. Its like masters and servants

Well italy is made up different. We were not one nation back then but very many city republics:

So it formed a different idenity and way of thinking.

You see my City Lucca? its very close to Republic of Florence but belonged to Modena. Sometimes Florence. It was two different countries. If I wanted go Rome i would cross 3 countries.

After the fall of Selcuk Empire all Turkish tribes or big families became independent throughout Anatolia.

They also had a lot of rivalry...The ottomans basically defeated or bought them all then became an empire
