Italy is part of NATO, read article 5 it states clearly that an attack on one member is an attack on all. Idk...its hard to explain to someone who isn´t from italy. I´m from tuscany...we (Lucca, Pisa, Prato, Florence, Arezzo...)pretty much are known as the most arrogant pricks of all of italy...We look down on pretty much anyone. We respect Roma and Venice as well as Milano. That said we dont see the northerners from Tirol and Trentino as "real" italians. We call them "Krautis" because we see them as more "german".

Sicily and some otehr southern areas are the wild parts for us with less civilisation.

But Sardinia is the "bushland" for us.

and btw dont tell me its not same in turkey. This rival behavior between regions is not unique in italy. This even goes between cities in tuscany. My hometown Lucca for example hates Pisa with passion and they hate us.

Well lagely not really, sure there are stereotypes of every region but not really disliking, one exception are the SE provinces though, 30 years of pkk terrorism left its marks.

Italy was never really a unifiede country. We were many small republics with different alliances and so on. The only constant was vatican state. My city was its own republic. Sometime also part of republic of pisa (so you understand why rivals). And the Florence was also own republic.

So its all a bit different. The republics here were very much leading in Renaissance. It was like the center of the world back then. Art, culture, Science. You know? da Vinci and so on. So its alot of renomee.

We often highlight this with carnival and all this. So many of us appear like snobs for others from otehr regions from italy. But its not hate. More like fun.

Hımm...your history is different from ours...there have never been (or had been for very limited time) Turkish city states. There was Seljuk Empire(1037-1194), then Ottoman Empire(1299-1923)....city rivalry is non existent in Turkey.
