Youth headed for Greece lands in Pakistan jail

Duped by touts, a youth dreaming of a better life in Greece ended up landing in a Pakistani jail and has been languishing there since, his family claimed.
Jatinder Singh of Kapurthala, who had gone to Abu Dhabi two-years ago for a job, came in contact with some persons who promised to take him to Greece for work, his grandfather told PTI.

However, instead of taking him to Greece, they abandoned Jatinder on the Iran border from where he was arrested, he said.

After 15 days, the Iranian Police left him at the Afghanistan border.From Afghanistan he somehow managed to reach Pakistan, where he was again arrested and lodged in a jail, he claimed.

His family has sought the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to secure his release and repatriation.

A senior police official said he was not aware of the case, but added that the matter would be investigated on humanitarian grounds.

I can't imagine what his parents must be going through.Pakistani Authorities should intervene and release him to Indian Authorities as a gesture of good will.

The "escape from the sub continent" and the promise of wealth and luxury in a land afar are sometimes just a myth. In their attempts to reach this land they fork out a fortune to scoundrels that pretend to be travel agents and when they reach their destination reality sinks in. These so called "agents" must be found out and punished.
The family must be going through hell and back. The Pakistani authorities must act quickly and humanely and release this unfortunate chap.

One wonders, if he was arrested by the Iranians, why didn't they turn him to the Indian Embassy, why would they just dump him at the Afghan border and then as claimed, he SOMEHOW managed to reach Pakistan.

Exactly what I was thinking...and if he had no identification document..he would be headed to Iranian jail not Pakistani border.
