Erieye escort options for Pakistan Air Force

So what are the current options? F-16/ JF-17 may be.

now with F-16 Blk52 in service and also the Squadrons of JF-17, all equipped with potent BVR missiles, the issue have been addressed.
the thread was started back in 2009!!

:disagree: Will you guys please stop shouting about PAF buying J-11s. PAF does not need J-11s. NOBODY with any real knowledge of how the PAF works has talked about PAF buying J-11s as far as I know. Why would PAF need J-11s when they will very soon have J-10Bs and aerial refuellers?

In a war scenario, you'll need jets who can remain in the air for long periods of time. The J-11 or twin engine jets come in handy. Plus, they can also carry a large arsenal of BVR and WVR missiles (I think 12 hard points, out of which, 8-10 can be used for missiles).
Aerial refueling would work great if there was a lot of distance involved. But India is right next door. Whether you refuel around North or South.....you can make the aerial refueler and the jets getting refueled a sitting duck.
IMO, the PAF needs twine engines ASAP. Specially two-three squadrons around your shore line to defend the coast and to help the Navy. In fact, I'd go as far as to say forget about J-10, further advance JFT in a BIII configuration and add stealthy features and go for 2-3 squadrons of the J-11 and 2-3 squadrons of the J-31 (JSF copy?). That would be the ideal scenario. Plus deploy long range SAMS and build them in house if possible.
