Erdogan says referendum for death penalty is possible

you are an ugly pi*** don't ever mention the Turkish republic again with your dirty mouth. you fvckng terrorist sympathizer. and don't ever like my comment again...
You should change your avatar. Ataturk would be ashamed of you if he were alive today.

LOL
After arresting almost 3-4,000 military experts, teachers, reporters, Judges etc, by Erdogan administration an excuse is required to get rid of them.
Death penalty for those who opposite Erdogan administration, well looks weired.
And it appears that the Turkish masses are going to give him the power to do that.

They're digging their own graves.

Ataturk would have killed the likes of you who sympathize with terorrist. he would have also gassed the donkeys in nothern syria whatever the fvck they are called.

. .
They call that democracy in America.
No, they don't.

The whole point of Western democracy (i.e. a representative democracy) is to make sure mob rule doesn't occur.

Actually, Ataturk was non-interventionist, so he would've never interfered in Syria's affairs, unlike Erdogan. You seem to forget that your country's interventionism in Syria is the reason why groups such as the YPG became empowered in the first place.

Do you think the YPG would be ruling over northern Syria today if Erdogan hadn't swamped Syria with Islamic terrorists to undermine Assad?

Please get over yourself.

Well In Europe/US you've got the Far-right groups... same thing... maybe not the same impact, but yet...

Yeah, and they also have a system of checks and balances and separation of powers to make sure that mob rule doesn't occur.

Turkey's slide into mob rule is reminiscent of how the Nazis took over Germany.

Not all Turks i guess. There are different thoughts between Turkish people. I was one of the people who protected their resistance against coup conductors. It could be worse if American coup resulted.
We wish safety for Turkey but unfortunately some of it's governors are dreaming of greater territorials by occupying some areas of northern Iraq and Syria.
USA's plans and their ambition, both are destroying the region in favor of Israel. :(
They call that democracy in America.
There is no such thing in the name of democracy in western countries. E.g. ::
USA's presidents are elected by MSM
UK's prime minister is not elected by people directly etc. Norway and Spain are the examples of kingdom in 21th century. Huh bullshit, there is no democracy there.

It's called populism. And incoming far right parties in Europe are doing just the same... The difference is that, they are not in power yet... . Even without power they are still master in that field

You can't compare Atatürk's time with our situation today. Even the USA was once a non-interventionist power.

Oh yes they do, my dear.

The whole point of Western democracy (i.e. a representative democracy) .
Erdogan's rule is no more 'mob rule' then Trump's, arguably Erdogan represents bigger slice of Turkey then Trump does of America.

make sure mob rule doesn't occur.
And where are the 'mob's may I ask? Certainly no more than self proclaimed vigilantes like that American who shot those Indian's in Kansas under the false assumption that they were Muslims - he was merely acting on the wave released by Trump's campaign rhetoric.

The truth is, the Turkish masses are enabling the autocratization of their own country. This is happening for a number of reasons:

1. The majority of Turks aren't educated or enlightened enough to appreciate or understand the real functions, responsibilities, duties and meaning of an electoral democracy. They mistakenly think that democracy should be mob rule, and that the majority should decide things for the minority. They haven't the faintest clue that an electoral democracy is supposed to prevent tyranny of the masses.

2. The majority of Turks, unfortunately, despise the Kurds so much that they don't mind giving more powers to their head of state in exchange for making sure that their government does everything in its power to prevent the Kurds from achieving self-rule. In other words, they don't mind living in a dictatorship if it means that the Kurds won't get their own autonomous region or independent state.

Majority of Kurds support AKP...
ANd yes Tyranny of the Majority should be controlled, to let minority live decently. And populism is destroying that... But it's not only in Turkey, Europe does too and US too

Trump cannot replicate what Erdogan has done to Turkey, even if he desperately wants to.

There are too many checks and balances in the US political system, and the separation of powers are more clearly defined.

Trump cannot rule by decree in the same way that Erdogan has done for the last 12 months. Anything unconstitutional or controversial can be blocked by either the courts or the congress.

That said, America can end up becoming less democratic over time if the masses allow it to occur.

This is why an educated middle class is very important in order for electoral democracies to properly function.

Sadly, Turkey's political system is going down the shitter and the country is gradually going to turn into another Russia or Iran.

If that's what the Turks want, then so be it. But they shouldn't start complaining when they realize that their decision to empower an autocrat has made their country less, not more, stable.
