New Delhi: India has given Pakistan time till December 26 for a crackdown on terror infrastructure, said a report of a leading publisher of geopolitical intelligence on Tuesday. The report from Stratfor says that after the November 26 Mumbai attacks, India relayed a message to Pakistan via the US that they would be given 30 days to carry out significant actions in cracking down on Islamist militant proxies operating on Pakistani soil that continue to threaten India.
Islamabad has been denying that the terrorists who attacked Mumbai killing at least 170 people were from Pakistan. Pakistan's deadline, as far as we know, is December 26, making Indian military action against Pakistan a very real and near possibility. The Indians have had a month to prepare their military operations against Pakistan, and Indian defence sources have revealed that these plans are ready to go into effect, the report said.
While India used the time to prepare its military forces, the US came down hard on Pakistan behind the scenes, making clear that Islamabad will have to deliver on India's demands or else Washington will not be able to stand in New Delhi's way if and when the time comes for India to act, the report, based on intelligence reports, reads.
The intelligence analysts observed that Pakistan has made a few arrests and raids targeting militant leaders and Pakistani intelligence operatives, but has done nothing that substantially reduced the militant threat to India from New Delhi's point of view. And even if Pakistan was prepared to swallow the bitter pill of conceding to its main rival by cutting its militant ties, it can only go so far to placate India before it creates a domestic crisis in trying to avoid an international one, Stratfor said.
However, the report said, that it is still unclear how far India will take this military campaign and to what extent the US operations in Afghanistan will be affected. Discussions are taking place inside Indian defence circles over an escalatory military campaign, beginning with largely symbolic strikes in Pakistan-administered Kashmir against militant training camps and offices.
Depending on Pakistan's ability to respond, pressure could then be ratcheted up with precision air strikes in Pakistan's urban areas - to include the capital - against intelligence facilities and militant leadership hideouts.
The option of a naval blockade, which would cut off the US' main supply line into Afghanistan, has also been tossed around. While a blockade would put the already cash-strapped Pakistan in an economic choke, doing so would inevitably cause friction in India's relationship with Washington.
The intelligence publisher reported that the US, knowing its limitations of the relationship with New Delhi, is already preparing for a worst-case scenario. For the past month, the US military has been feverishly stockpiling supplies for its forces in Afghanistan in anticipation of a major interruption, said the report.

Punjabs chief minster Parkash has severly criticised the current Indian prime minister for dangerous weakness in the aftermath of Mumbai bombings.
In a stinging attack on Punjab TV Parkash Badal cheif minster of india,s punjab which borders pakistan demanded a indian leader & a GOV,T that would and could protect india & its citizens from terror attacks.
Describing the attacks as an outsider walking into your home assulting you and leaving he said NO ACTION by india was a huge sign of weakness.
WE DO NOT NEED MANMOHAN SINGH type leaders he blasted.
Manmohan Singh and his GOV,T are under massive pressure daily from all parties to ACT to convey a message that these terror attacks cannnot be tolerated.
THE MILITARY are ready and Confident BUT INDIA lacks the leadership with the strength and confidence to go for a unilateral strike.
India HAS a regional super power Economy & military but ALSO HAS a GOV,T thatv lacks the confidence to ACT like one..

War is an expensive business; has virtually bankrupted the greatest financial power on earth, the USA. War will be potentially disastrous for both India and Pakistan. Pakistan's economy has been teetering on the brink of collapse for some time; a war will probably not make it any worse. India on other hand has a lot to lose.
The US and India have been this orchestra of brinkmanship … to win a war without firing a shot!. Israel is the silent director in the background. The entire game plan of “limited surgical strikes” revolves around testing our nuclear threshold With Pakistani Airspace open to the US, and having been given the tacit approval to launch UAV strikes on our territory; our strategic assets are a well-known quantity as far as the US is concerned. Indian CARTOSAT remote sensing satellites covers our territory twice a day in pretty high resolution. About the only secret we have is our intentions!.
Our greatest weakness has been our predictable docility, a sheepish apologetic posture, and the notion of being recognized as responsible, mature and philosophical. We have also been dragged into a self-created insurgency in FATA to relive pressure on US / NATO.
Sometimes it is better to be less mature, irresponsible and unpredictable. At this stage we are very well in a position to give a run for its money to US / NATO in Afghanistan, and to some extent to India in Kashmir. If we allow this window of opportunity to lapse we will end up in dire straits.
What will be the potential price of “irresponsible behavior”?. In fact none to positive!. We are already paying the full price as a “pariah terrorist state”; while fighting America’s war from our own pocket!

NEW DELHI - India asked Pakistan on Tuesday to avoid war hysteria and simply act to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure operating in its country.
The issue is not war, the issue is terror and territory in Pakistan being used to promote, aid and abet this terror, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told reporters. Nobody wants war.
India has blamed Pakistani militants for last months attacks on Mumbai that killed 179 people and says Pakistan is not fulfilling a promise to crack down on extremists and prevent them using its soil to attack other countries.
As tension between the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours simmered, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani warned on Monday that the armed forces were fully capable of defending the country and the people would be united if war was imposed.
But Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Pakistan should focus on the issues. The issue is not creating war hysteria or raising accusing finger against others.
(The) question is there has been a sinister, heinous terrorist attack on Mumbai from the elements in Pakistan. India has requested Pakistan to take action against the perpetrators, he told reporters.
Mukherjee has previously said all options were open to India to pressure Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks, but analysts said a military strike remains very unlikely, as it would strengthen the hand of hawks and extremists in Pakistan.
Instead India is trying to build an international diplomatic consensus to put pressure on Pakistan, and has received support from the United States and the United Nations.
Pakistan strenuously denies any state links to the Mumbai attack.

Anwar >... Oooh rest assured we are ready .. The last time in 2001/2002 India calmed down only after we tested 5 different missiles in 5 different days .. They use to call our missiles having been painted in Pakistan .. after the test all wonderland stories went away.
This time we have brought our Air Force with some surprise planes & missiles with added fuel tanks on war front ! and are doing extensive aggressive formations ..
If that is not enough our troops are already moving & subs already sent out in deep waters !
The only thing not sure is where are the strategic CM's & BM's .. have they been primed for delivery .. Cause the euphoria of simaltaneous if not instant return on any Indian adventure is very high in Pakistan.
Infact the fever is so high that now people are wanting to start a war. The worst effected will the US strategy of this region cause as it seems people are uniting for one against all the aggression which we saw in the last 1 month from India & the West.
