The Fata education secretariat has converted 25 Urdu medium government schools into English medium in Khyber Agency.
These schools include five high and 20 primary schools with ten for girls and the rest for boys. Agency education officer Ateequr Rehman told Dawn on Monday that a training programme for teachers of these English medium schools was under progress. My department is trying to raise a new cadre of teachers for these schools, he said.
The aim of converting Urdu medium government schools to English medium is to provide quality education to Fata youth, he said and added that poor Fata students dream of getting admission in English medium schools had been fulfilled.
He said the education department was in the process of converting more government schools in Fata to English medium. This is the tip of the
ice berg as more such incentives are in the pipeline, he said.
Mr Rehman said the political administration would bear all expenses of books and stationary required for the converted schools.
Prisoners released: Jamrud political administration on Monday released six more prisoners thus taking the total number of released prisoners during Ramazan to 96.
