Energy crisis: Lights go off in Europe as prices soar • FRANCE 24 English

West Europe had it so easy with dirt cheap Russian Gas.. Germany became industrial powerhouse using subsidised Russian Gas. Running huge trade surplus.

And then they decided to shoot their own nuts. Now buying American and Qatari Gas on market price. 2-3 months into winter and Ukraine will see its support crashing in West.

Sure, Germany became an industrial powerhouse due to subsidized Russian gas....lmao. Why do you people always find lame excuses for others doing well. They got bombed to bits in WW2, lost 10 million people, most of them young men, were divided into 2 pieces till 1990, and yea sure, they succeeded due to cheap gas, not because they were smart, or hard working or dedicated.... Just because India is a dirt poor failed country doesnt mean you have to take your frustration out on other countries that have succeeded.

Just for the record, everyone buys gas at the market price including Germany, there are no freebies. Russia wasn't selling gas at any subsidized rate before the war, the only thing that made it cheaper was transportation costs.

err... transportation is >50% of the cost when you compare pipeline to LNG.

ya exactly.

reason why bmw and audi is not saudis or ASML is dutch cause europeans are fucking smart ppl not because they get some cheap gas.

ccp bots and some brown fellas love to believe some gas shortage going to make any difference on ground lol

same reason south Korea and japan is soo successful despite 100 percent energy importer cause they have the best human capital of Asia.

a few stats to better understand the energy crisis: - EU's total gas consumption in 2021 was 412 bcm, russia provided 155 bcm. - Gas imports from other countries are expected to increase by at least 50 bcm in 2022. So without any gas from russia, there would be a shortage of 105 bcm, or roughly 25% compared to 2021. -

Natural gas accounts for 32% of EU's final energy consumption. So without any gas from russia, there would be an energy shortage of 8% compared to 2021. This is assuming that demand will stay the same, that eu don't try to increase output from other energy sources and that russia didn't provide any gas at all this year. And that is not the case. - Russia provided a lot of gas in the first half of the year, and they are still sending gas through the pipelines in Ukraine. - Gas consumption in the first 8 months of 2022 was 15% lower than last year. - Coal imports are up 35%, and domestic production has increased too.

The point is, there is no actual shortage yet. And if eu continue to consume 15% less gas, then there shouldn't be a shortage.

there are bad & good to this crisis...good is people returns to the natural cycle of day/night good for health. another is saving the environment. payback to nature..

If things were this well buttoned down why an energy shortage, why utilities costs going through the roof (even in countries like the UK that imports about 3% of its gas from Russia, and in Europe that increases are by factors of 4X. Please explain maybe we are missing something here.

Net net is even if we see stabilization during austerity measures, and subsidies, and alternative purchasing from more expensive resources, the reality is Europe and the UK are likely to see massive inflation. So even if they manage to withstand the immediate shock, they are likely to get a wrapping in the form of long term economic recession, which given the limited tools with the SB, could even move towards Stagflation. I hope that is not the case as it is likely to impact our exports and remittances, but I have a bad feeling we are in for some massive economic downturn.

It’s not a simple thing of reducing 15%. Why are they increasing energy costs to astronomical levels which is out of reach for most households.
Its to create massive unemployment, chaos, depopulation, etc all agenda of the book of the global zionists.
Plus the uk/russia going nuclear at each other…..that essentially can wipe out the europe continent……feel sorry for the sheeple that believe that its just a gas shortage issue.
Big evil is planned and sheeple will get slaughtered!! Prepare to flee or ration up if u can…..they will create food shortages alongside everything…….WEF and its agents at work in every country. This is serious shit like ww3 massive levels.

The stats are for eu as whole. Overall impact will be minimal and from next year impact will be zero.

They always do these stuff, what's new? but US used to recognize Taiwan instead of PRC, what made US switch to PRC and abandon Taiwan in the first place? Now whatever they do is still too little, too late and make them look more hypocritical.
