Both pilots are having 700+ flight hours. It's not yet confirmed that the reason for the crash landing . Earlier it was assumed a failure of landing gear . The UAE nationality pilot was well aware of the situation and he landed on emergency runway rather than the main . Due to the crash landing , all flights diverted to Sharjah air port.
It was a great effort of the flight crew , Air port authority , Dubai Civil Defense which acted swiftly and evacuated all passengers safely.
One of the fire figher lost his life . The firefighter has been identified as Jassim Al Bloushi, from Ras Al Khaimah. RIP.

Emirates can confirm that today, 3 August 2016, flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International Airport. There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.
The Boeing 777 aircraft, departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport.
We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew. All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe.
We are expecting a 4-hour network wide delay, more information will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.

In April 2004, an Emirates Airbus A340-300 taking off from Johannesburg, South Africa failed to become airborne before takeoff. It struck 25 approach lights, causing four tires to burst and severely damaging the flap drive mechanism.

March 2007: An Airbus A310-300 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG006 had its nose gear collapse while accelerating for take-off. Of the 236 people on board, 14 suffered minor injuries. At the time, the airport had one operational runway that was closed for nearly 8 hours, affecting the operations of 71 flights.
September 2010: UPS flight 6 - a Boeing 747 - crashed soon after takeoff while en-route to Cologne, Germany. The flight had taken off but was on the way back after reporting smoke in the cockpit. Both crew members were killed when the aircraft crashed between Emirates Road and the Al Ain Highway, having narrowly avoided Dubai Silicon Oasis.
