Elon Musk embarrasses US, Russian, and Chinese space agencies by launching the most powerful rocket

Coincidence ???

Jealous of what? A con man who love to burn investor's money and bribe NASA and don't get caught yet? No wonder you get a con artist as your president, fit your culture right.

Were Musk's any business misadventure turn profit? If he were a Chinese, there would have been several anti-corruption and fraud investigation undergoing right now and if he been lucky, he would have already fled to the wild west US with all the money he conned.

I still don't find the point of reuse rocket, if anything, China's future EM-launched satellites are the real deal to make breaking through to make space travel/space city/space ship realistic, so just stay tunned to the real breakingthrough.

Say the one...who's country "already" have a team who is developing this so called " useless re-landing/re-useable rockets...

And whose country is struggling with serious corruption at all levels of government...

Mmmm...

The Long March 4B will test grid fins in 2019 (grid fins on reusable rockets like the SpaceX Falcon are used to control flight during the high velocity portion of the descent phase) and vertically land a Long March 6 rocket in 2020.
We can be confident you will never be employed in China's space program.

Immediately thought of that "Heavy Metal" movie scene when I saw those pics, and wondered if anyone else made the connection.
Am sure plenty of people did. Am sure that either Musk or someone close to him suggested it. The idea itself is too outrageous that only something out of Hollywood could inspire him.

I love the 'Heavy Metal' movie when it came out. I love it more than I like 'Star Wars' and all its sequels. I was reading 'Heavy Metal' mags even before I was old enough to buy it, when the stores were racking it alongside Playboy and Hustler.

Sounds like awful jealousy here...

Elon Musk did something everyone inside China's space program wish they could but did not because they ain't gots the brains or the courage.

On the Heavy Falcon's FIRST test flight, two out of three boosters successfully landed. And his car will troll the solar system for the next few decades. So until the warp drive comes along, Elon Musk will be humanity's greatest troll yet.

If he wants to, he can get pussy ANYWHERE he travels and not have to work or pay for it.

The more you Chinese mock him, the more fool you appears to be.
How can we be jealous? We are just common folks with humble funding. We are not at the level of Elon where he can use his mass media appeal to get funding. Imagine an Asian looking Ma Wei Ming trying to get funding from wallstreet for his electromagnetic rocket launcher or that Chinese start up testing the first Chinese civllian vertical landing mechanism with AI. You think he can get funding like Elon the genius?

Elon Musk had brains or his ex NASA scientist had brains? Tell me which stress analysis or propulsion he designed? He only had the hype, and all you typical drones bought that hype and funded him for years absorbing all those billions he burned. He is no different from my 2 year old, they both had a dream. :enjoy:

What makes you think he is not getting pussy now and not have to work for it? His scientist and managers are working, not him. He just appears for fund raising and magazine covers. Hype sells bhai. Nobody is mocking that rocket, but to credit HIM for everything seems infantile. No private company can afford to burn billions and run a loss making company for years and then got called a genius. Anybody can keep on burning cash and hire talents to produce a breakthrough. A real genius makes a breakthrough within budget and makes a profit, that's the difference.:D

He's right. The rocket r&d was funded by government aka tax dollars. Private sectors without government funding will not have the success.
it is going to be the trend, whether you want to deny it or not, state owned institutions are tend to be inefficient and costly (applies to China or America's SOE), but private groups otherwise, with good security and management, they can be very helpful to a nation's space exploration.

we also have few private companies investing loads of money in the field

It is because America's space industry conglomerate is much mature and advanced than ours, so their private firm has better chance of getting leading tech support than our private firms. However, with our ever acceleration in space tech, we will soon too to have our private firms do achieve such feet in space exploration

The movie was out quite a bit before my time, but watched it with my dad (who really liked it) a few years back on DVD and really liked it.

I think the soundtrack is really good too.

Elon Musk another "Poster Boy" of the US Bankers. All these stories need to be taken with a pinch of salt as most of them are nonsense promotional stories deliberately propagated by news outlets.
