Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى‎ ‘Īdu l-’Aḍḥ&#257 "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid" is a holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. It is also celebrated by the Druze, an esoteric quasi-Islamic faith, whose origins stem from Shia Islam.

Eid al-Adha is the latter of two Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims, whose basis comes from the Quran.[1] Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha begins with a short prayer followed by a sermon (khuṭba).

Eid al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja (ذو الحج&#1577 of the lunar Islamic calendar. The festivities last for three days or more depending on the country. Eid al-Adha occurs the day after the pilgrims conducting Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by Muslims worldwide, descend from Mount Arafat. It happens to be approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan.

Waziristan: Peshawar Students Celebrate Eid with Soldiers​

WANA: Peshawar school students celebrated Eid-ul-Azha with soldiers of Pakistan Army in Southern Waziristan giving them gifts.

School students reached Razmak to deliver their Eid wishes to the jawans of Pak army participating in Operation Rah-e-Nijat.

On this occasion students gave gifts and flowers to the jawans.

The object of the visit was to encourage the morale of the soldiers fighting on fronts.

Students also visited the Makeen area of Southern Waziristan.

Soldiers also delivered their Eid wishes to the nation and their families.

Rawalpindi - November 28, 2009: Rawalpindi, November 28: Special Dua for the unity, solidarity and sovereignty of Pakistan was offered at Eid congregations in all military garrisons and establishments as the Pakistan Armed Forces joined the nation for thanks giving on the occasion of Eid ul Azha.

The largest Eid congregation at Rawalpindi was held at Ashra Mubashra Mosque Chaklala which was attended by Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and large number of senior serving and retired military officers, junior commissioned officers and jawans.

Eid greetings were exchanged afterwards and senior officers present on the occasion freely interacted with the troops.

Brigadier Zaman Nasrullah Khan Niazi, Station Commander Rawalpindi visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Military Hospital (MH) respectively, where he met the patients and inquired about their health.
