Egypt to boost Rafale order by 100 aircrafts as its SU-35 fails to withstand Rafale's spectra electronic attacks

Focusing on a single platform would be better for the EAF. Rather than buying dozens of different types of platforms.

Then there is the question what good are 100 Rafales when they are not even equipped with Meteor missiles? in such a scenario the JF17s would squat the rafales out the sky with their PL-12/PL-15s.
JF17 can probably squat Rafael even when later is equipped with Meteor. Well within realm of possibility.

As reported in detail in a previous article, the current AL-41F-1 engine, considered underpowered for the aircraft, is only an interim power plant until the final engine is ready. The latter, known as Izdeliye 30 (literally Product 30) will be supposedly more efficient than previous designs, giving to the jet a top speed in excess of Mach 2 and a supercruise capability at Mach 1.3, and features 3d thrust vectoring. The Izdeliye 30 begun flight testing in 2017 and is expected to be ready by 2025. This means that serial production of the Su-57 may have to keep using the AL-51F-1 for the first examples and retrofit them when the new engine becomes available. The S-duct air inlet doesn’t cover the entire engine face, as done for the F-22 and F-35; the problem is mitigated by the air intake screen (which then have a double function other than FOD prevention) and a radar blocker in front of the engine fan, similar to the one used by the F/A-18 Super Hornet.


Russian latest Checkmate jet fighter will NOT be able to supercruise on the other hand:

The only concrete figure leaked by the company was the jet weight: less than 18,000 kilograms (39,700 pounds). The number most likely refers to gross weight, making the new aircraft slightly heavier than the light jets of the previous generation, such as the MiG-19, the F-16, or the HAL Tejas.

The one engine, used by the fighter, is rumored to be the Izdelye 30, originally designed as an upgrade for the Felon. Its thrust – 11,000 kgf (24,250 lbf) dry and 18,000 kgf (39,700 lbf) with afterburner – correlates nicely with the supposed weight, but might indicate that the jet is not going to be capable of supercruise, as its power-to-weight ratio is significantly smaller than that of known supercruising jets.

that comes as no surprise.
PLAAF rumors are that the SU-35 is behind in every regard to its own Flankers and J-10C except maneuverability. and that its much advertised "ai" is nothing more than a system which suggests flight patterns of known Jets.

I still like its aesthetics.. for the rest.. I can't be sure, since only Russia and China are operating them.. with time we will know more for sure..

Rafale3-R and Typhoon tranche 4 are also 4++ generation apparently..

The 2nd video is quite the negative endorsement for the Su-35, yikes. I don't think anyone argues that the Rafale isn't a better, all-around aircraft. The only difficult distinction is how much better is it and the details that make it a better platform.

Spectra is class apart. F21 faced the same fate in antelion eagle excercise. As it came to face Rafale, its radar got jammed.

Russian aircraft are junk. I dont understand why people here get so excited about Su-35s...

We should be grateful that India has over 270 Su30MKI's with no signed upgrade path yet ... and even then - it would give them someting close to Su35 avonics which are crap!

Thankfully the Chinese are good at Radars and EW in general so i think we can be sure the J10Cs and JF17s Block III's can take on the Rafale's Spectra ... and PAF is very good at network centric warfare which also helps negate Spectra's effectiveness against the PAF.

Said it before already that the advertized radar range of 300km special mode is useless in real life. Also specifics about resolution is not given. When trialed, the Snow Leopard radar while it is very powerful, doesn't even match J-16's second generation AESA or even J-10C's smaller and less powerful AESA. LPI also not detailed but basically the real world and real combat condition use of the powerful PESA of Su-35 is not better than most second generation AESAs of even smaller size in TR modules and power emission and use.

It is still a relatively modern radar though and better than doppler based types.

We should be gratefvul that India has over 270 Su30MKI's with no upgrade path yet ...

They have excellent performance especially Flankers. If you give them good avionics then they are fine aircraft. Just too high in RCS but use them appropriately. If you fly F-22 as a bomb truck in low altitude and low speed to make gun runs, it would also be shot down mercilessly.

The one thing that doesn't make much sense is why the EAF went ahead and probably paid the huge deposit and signed an official contract to have 30 Su-35s custom-built for its air force and then run this test against the Rafale's SPECTTRA once the aircraft are almost all built and almost ready for delivery?! It doesn't make any sense that they didn't run this test prior to deciding on purchasing 30 of these aircraft!?!?

It makes one at least question the veracity of this story.

The story is not correct
Whoever calls the flanker scrap does not speak again. I do not want to sort out the scrap weapons, as the example of the Mirage 5

The Meteor is going to drastically and instantaneously alter the air to air game out there. Even the MICA NG will twist things up in a bunch or knots and really make the competition out there realize they're not the only ones playing the high end tech for BVR missiles.

Waiting for Germany to develop a medium range A-A missile to complement their short range missile in the IRIS-T which was originally supposed to replace the AIM-9 Sidewinder according to the deal with Raytheon and the US. But it seems the latter two reneged on their end and went ahead and not only kept producing the AIM-9, but started building better versions, most notably the AIM-9X which surpassed the venerable R-73/74 in its high boresight. You would think that the Germans would want to develop their own medium and possibly long-range missile to defy the US for the AIM-9X. We'll have to keep an eye on that.

Back to the RAFALE, since they incorporated SPECTRA, it really has elevated that aircraft's capabilities in the EW regime. To the point where a single aircraft can jam several enemy ones at beyond visual range but within the enemy's radar coverage which could be as much as 200km, have him frustrated to the point where he tries to close the distance in order to shake off the jamming and the next thing he knows, he's within the MICA's range and baboom! Even worst when these same Rafales are upgraded to F3R or 4 and they're sporting the Meteor and MICA NG. This will be a very difficult platform to beat in the air.

Yup, anything India buys becomes a "Game-changer" or a world-beater. Heard the same lullabies about the Flanker of the East "SU-35". The last time when we met (PAF Vs IAF), the world witnessed what we did to you guys.

Not saying Rafale isn't a great fighter craft but to say it is the ultimate invincible machine with no counterplays is absurd and delusional.

It is otherwise. We buy game changer stuff with even better game changing techniques. When we bought MKI, it was top class. We made it even better with Israeli , French and Indian stuff particularly electronics. Now it is the time to put contemporary electronics into it.

It's a game-changer in the hands of a good Air Force. But with the Indian Air Force...
