The Egyptian Navy’s third Gowind 2500 corvette Al-Moez (981) was launched in a ceremony at the Alexandria shipyard on May 12.

In addition to being the third unit in the class, Al-Moez is the second of a total of four ships to be built locally by Egypt.

The first unit, ENS El Fateh, was delivered to Egypt in 2017 by Naval Group, the French state-owned shipbuilder who is helping Egypt build the remaining three units in the class under a transfer of technology agreement.

Egypt’s 102-meter corvettes are equipped with the SETIS combat system and the Panoramic Sensors and Intelligence Module (PSIM) in addition to a 76mm Oto Melara gun, vertical launch cells for MBDA’s MICA missile and torpedo launchers.

Displacing 2,600 tonnes, the ships are crewed by 80 persons (including the helicopter detachment) and reach a speed of 25 knots.

The launch of Al-Moez is the result of a long-standing cooperation between Naval Group and Egypt. In addition to corvettes, the shipbuilder delivered the FREMM multi mission frigate Tahya Misr in August 2015 and two Mistral-class landing helicopter dock vessels to the Egyptian Navy in June 2016.

Naval Group has also established an Egyptian subsidiary called Alexandria Naval with the aim of providing in-service support for the delivered vessels.

The MEKO 200A Frigates.. 3 are supposed to be built in Egypt..
Does Egypt need AC besides Mistral? Arab world should do aircraft carrier project like Europe, one builds aircraft carrier or buys it and others provide escort ships like destroyers, frigates, subs, etc.

Wikipedia

"In December 1999, the European Council established the Helsinki Headline Goal, which focussed on creating a European Union Rapid Reaction Force to operate at the global level. One element of such a force was to be three large aircraft carriers, two provided by the Royal Navy and one by the French. According to this plan, other western European navies were to provide the escort cover needed by the carriers."

Egypt supply Mistral class ships that can carry various helicopters, Egypt supplies two Type 209 subs, Algeria provides two Type 054A class for anti-submarine warfare, Saudi Arabia provides one Boreida class supply ship and one Al Riyadh class for anti-air warfare as well as one Al Riyadh class as a stealth frigate like France, Qatar provides one Doha class for anti-air protection with Aster 30.

2 Mistral class provided by Egypt.

This could serve as a rapid response carrier group for instability in the Arab world that needs some type of reaction. @The SC @Wilhelm II @Khafee

Ok fine. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain could certainty pull this off.

Right now Syria, Libya and Yemen need that support but it's being handled badly. The air strikes on Yemen only anger Yemenis, putting aside what sides you support if you think about it it's obvious. No one likes to see his country being bombed for years on with little ground result, every bomb has major impact on the ground with little progress in terms of who controls the land.

Syria has been ignored for years and was handled like utter shit, now Assad won and the Arab world is still slow in accepting that and supporting him against Erdogan's and Kurdistan's project.

Libya should have ground intervention by Arab states.

And what will Arab states achieve by sending troops in Libya?
To fight who? GNA? LNA? Both?

And what for? make it even more a mess... Thankfully those on the ground have limited to no Aircraft... otherwise it will be Syria all over again... with thousands and thousands of civilians killed...

Right now every side is exposing their new equipment... with GNA side and their latest Turkish acquisition... and the LNA their UAE/RU Equipements and their newly received Jordanian APC...

Not even gonna put ahead the Algerian variable... now that they are out of their local problems...

The Arab states are incompetent... they couldn't, to this day, find an answer to their own sh*t... it's not like they gonna find an answer to the sh*t of others...quite the opposite.
