[Editorial]Treaties show that Japan’s annexation of the Ryukyu Kingdom was an unjustified act

LOL! What an incredible thread. Btw, most Okinawans are even more Japanese than Japanese people form mainland.

Separatists ? O man, talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

Some Japanese were needed here, this type of thread on Ryukyu/Okinawa has very old history on this forum. :sarcastic::sarcastic:

Its just ABSOLUTELY ridiculous, really. These are very minor segments of Okinawan prefecture population. These are examples of severe outliers. Many people who come from Okinawa Prefecture are heads of many businesses, and active in policy. In fact, majority of Okinawan people are die-hard ULTRA-nationalists.

:lol::lol::omghaha::omghaha:

No doubt, someone from PRC talking about separatist movement in Japan sounds clownish when all of us know their own background.

Well, it is an editorial from a Ryukyu/Okinawan newspaper.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryūkyū_Shimpō
Today, it has the largest print-run of newspapers in Okinawa with both morning and evening editions, and the newspaper company is connected to a number of other businesses, including Ryūkyū Shimpō Shipping, Ryūkyū Shimpō Development, and Weekly Lequio (週刊レキオ社 Shūkan Rekio sha?)[2]

Good for them that they presented their view, and it is good to know.

An editorial from a radical group. Of course. So every single radical group's view should be generalizable to the majority?

Perhaps maybe with that viewpoint, you might generalize all Japanese as militant nationalists due to the editorial(s) and website(s) owned and operated by Uyoku Dantai ?

You really have impressive critical thinking skills... :coffee:

Who generalized to majority?

It is presented as is, an editorial from what I know is, a big newspaper in Okinawa.

And they talk about their own history.

As far as I know, the history they presented is in a very factual fashion.

Given their history of being victimized, they have the right to present their view.

Ergo, it is good to know.

I really doubt your reason for posting it here. It leaves one wanting.

The reason I posted it here is because I like their view of history and what they said.

Especially this, from a war victim that is still alive today,

“I will never forget what I saw and what I did in the war and so I tell my horrible story.” He adds that the Japanese government also has a responsibility to face up to what the country did more than half a century ago.

Easy to solve.

Since Japan is a democracy country, therefore do the referendam, the way Crimia did. If they are pro independent, let it be. If they are pro Japan, let them be province of Japan.

(P.S. Thailand is no more democracy country.

I think currently the independence seeker is only about 5% of the Okinawa population, but like Scottland, given enough media campaign, things could change dramatically. Afterall, the US military base there is highly unpopular, and that could be a strong selling point for the independence proponent. I doubt Japan will allow such referendum unless forced into one.
