It was extremely sad to see an angel of mercy such as Edhi Sahib looking despondent. However, emotions aside, a robbery/armed robbery, whether it is at the house of a noble person or an ordinary ‘Sheedah in Lahori lingo’ is equally despicable. Invariably someone employed by Edhi Trust as well the local police would be directly or indirectly be involved.
Regret to admit that theft & robbery is prevalent in all societies to a varying degree; may be a little more in current Pakistan because criminals know that they would not be caught.
It is a pity that while we have experienced all the ill effects of the Madrasah education such as sectarianism and intolerance of other persons beliefs, one would have hoped that at least teachers of the various Madrasahs would been able to inculcate personal integrity & honesty among their pupils. Alas that does not appear to be case. Allama Iqbal, someone who surely knew the hypocrisy of the Mullahs declared:
Yehi Sheikh-e-Haram hai jo chura kar baich khata hai
Galeem – e Bu Zar –o – Dalaq –e- Awais –o- Chadar-e –Zahra
What else can one say to very sad & loathsome incident except that criminals have no religion and honour among thieves is non-sense.
