  • ECP instructs Islamabad IG to present Imran Khan before it tomorrow.
  • ECP issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for PTI chief on July 11.
  • Khan earns ECP’s anger due to his persistent absence from hearings.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday asked the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICT) to carry out its obligation for complying with a non-bailable arrest warrant issued for former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in a case relating to contempt of the electoral body on July 11.

The development came hours after the ousted premier, who was removed from power via a parliamentary vote last year, got relief as the Supreme Court restricted the police from arresting Khan till August 9 in the case of senior lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar's murder in Quetta.

Irked by his persistent absence from the hearings, the ECP instructed the Islamabad IG to arrest Imran and present him before the electoral watchdog tomorrow (Tuesday).

The former prime minister was skipping the hearings despite being summoned in a personal capacity time and again.

‘Imran Khan will appear before ECP bench tomorrow’

The PTI chairman will appear before the four-member ECP bench tomorrow (Tuesday), confirmed his counsel Sher Afzal Khan Marwat.

Khan’s counsel made the remarks as the ECP has instructed the Islamabad police chief to arrest the deposed prime minister and present him before the bench tomorrow at 10am. The non-bailable arrest warrant was issued for the PTI chief in a case registered against him for using foul language against the election authority and his chief in public meetings.

Moreover, it is pertinent to mention here that the PTI chief had started targeting the ECP and its chief after being disqualified by the electoral watchdog in the Toshakhana reference under Article 63(1)(p) for making “false statements and incorrect declaration”.

In August last year, the ECP issued notices to Khan and other leaders of his party for passing inappropriate remarks and levelling allegations against the commission and its members.

The content of the notices stated that Khan used "insulting and indecent language" against Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in his rallies on July 12, 18, 21, 27, August 4 and 8.

“You have used contemptuous remarks and levelled baseless allegations against the CEC,” the notice sent to Khan read.

The commission further stated that these leaders have “willfully and intentionally scandalised, ridiculed, and maligned the integrity” of the CEC which has brought into disrespect the reputation of Sikander Sultan Raja.

The ECP further accused them of instigating the public against the CEC by using contemptuous language which is an “attempt to prejudice the process of forthcoming election which constitute a clear contempt of the commission.”

'Whatever I said was related to the party's narrative'

On July 20, former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry tendered an apology to the ECP in the contempt case filed against him by the electoral watchdog.

Fawad, after being instructed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), appeared before the ECP with his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry, during which he tendered an apology to the commission and pleaded to withdraw the show-cause notice issued to him.

He said whatever he said was related to the party's narrative while he was its spokesperson.

"It was the party's position that I described. I respect the institutions including the ECP," The former information minister.

He further said whatever he said was related to the party's narrative while he was its spokesperson. "It was the party's position that I described. I respect the institutions including the ECP."

Fawad was then asked by the CEC if he would kill anyone on the orders of the party chief. Raja also lamented about the ill language spoken against him, his family, and the commission during public gatherings.

The former federal minister was then asked to submit a written apology to the ECP, which it will review later. The hearing was adjourned until August 1.

Earlier this week, the IHC, on Fawad's plea, suspended a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him by the electoral body due to his non-appearance in a hearing.

Aby fandu sultan rajay kameeny tari to khan tind kar k khotay par bitha kar gali gali shahar shahar ghumain gay inshallah
Any day himain aik bar phir daikh

Imran needs to make a call for the people to pick up arms there is no law in the country and our own army is behind these pious front men.
Now care taker set up is going to be implemented for next 2 years and by then IK will be dead and buried and country will be in the dog house.
Until these pathetic haram khors generals are not lynched this circus will continue and by then the country will fall into disarray they will simply run off to other countries.

Can ECP issue arrest warrants?

Exactly what the govt wants him to do, so they can say, “See? Told you so” (inciting violence)

Ordinary Pakistani doesn’t have enough care to better their life and are relying on IK to issue calls? Seems like it

The Punjabi supremacist was involved in stoking ethnic and sectarian violence in the country. The abject condition of accountability in the country is going to result in unimaginable chaos if people like Fawad continue to leech off peoples insecurities through populism.

Absolute mockery by the courts to allow anarchist elements within PTI to dump all the blame on ex PM and party chairman. These people held the PM hostage via kitchen cabinet as well.

Powers and Functions of the ECP:

Under the Elections Act 2017 the ECP is empowered to regulate its own procedure for the purpose of performing its functions and duties. It can act notwithstanding any vacancy in its ranks (chapter 1,section 2). In case of difference of opinion the decision of the majority prevails. The ECP has power to issue such directions as may be necessary for the performance of its functions, and these directions are enforceable throughout Pakistan as if they had been issued by a High Court. The ECP can seek assistance from any person or authority. It can delegate its powers to any member or to any officer. It has power to requisition property. It has powers to pass whatever orders may be necessary to ensure fair elections and to declare a poll void on account of grave illegalities.
It has also power to punish for contempt as per provisions of the Contempt of Courts Ordinance 2003.

Oh Bhen chod ECP koi court ha kya. IK should send his middle finger to that clown Sultan Raja. Kisi chutia ka bacha haramzada.

No special provisions for IK.

IK needs to follow the law.

Beside few thousands , sadly Pakistan is a dead carcass of 220+ Million zombies.

Who love to blame, politicians, US, West & India for all the evil in world but wont stand up for own children.

Act they are the most pious on planet earth and do the worst deeds.

Much worse is yet to come and Pakistani nation fully deserves it.

1 Picking up arms wont do nothing, will only make more victims.
2 Where was Sri Lanka last year at this point and where they stand now shows the state of people and a country.

Orders have come from Asim Whisky not ECP. Whisky will not allow elections until
he has murdered or imprisoned IK as promised to Mota Nawaja.

Elections will not happen this year, whisky wants them to be held next year. He wants
more time to finish of PTI but in reality he is finishing off Pakistan.

Country is being sold out just to get through few more days and to make more commission in dollars. Due to high food prices people are committing suicides as there kids are going without food. As time goes by circular debt will strangle the country economy and more workers will be on the streets.
Islamabad airport, Karachi port, country parks are let out on lease, Saudi kindly declined 1000's of acres of land on cheap lease so these Noora league can't make more commission.
Either required the Sri Lankan model or the French model before more lives are lost as current set up is only interested in clinging on to the power to save themselves from the inevitable. They will run off abroad in the next 2 or 5 years blaming every one else without showing there bank accounts and country will be in tatters economically.
Imran khan wants rule of law but forgets to tell us whose law, jungle, election commission, judiciary, constitutional, Nora, or army law. The only thing I can see is All mafias are on the one side and helpless Islamic Republic is on the other side and these animals are just skinning Pakistan to the bone.

If they want civil war we'll give it to them.

And I'll personally start by executing every elitya panchod in DHA and Bahria Town.

No mercy. Entire family stands outside and they are executed.

Period.
