DynCorp contracted agent arrested on charges of assassinating Pakistani officers

The link for the below mentioned article I had seems to be broken as brecorder refreshes its web links everyday.

ISLAMABAD (December 01 2009): Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have claimed to have arrested the main facilitator of the three terrorist attacks on military officers in Islamabad with links to foreign agencies. The detained facilitator, Subedar Zaffar Iqbal, a retired junior commissioned officer (JCO) of SSG was arrested from G-6 sector of Islamabad, when he was driving an International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) vehicle with the number plate ICRC 72-31, intelligence sources told Business Recorder on Monday.

They said that Zaffar has admitted that he was the main facilitator of the terrorist attacks on the three Brigadiers of Pakistan Army in Islamabad. He undertook surveillance of the three targets prior to planning the place and timing of the attacks. He subsequently got the terrorists in place, provided them with bike and ammunition, and, after successful completion of the attacks, ensured their getaway by loading the bike on a Hilux pickup, sources said.

Zaffar Iqbal was questioned about the ICRC vehicle, and he failed to give any satisfactory reply as to how he got access to the ICRC vehicle, sources said, adding that the relevant authorities are investigating whether the number plate of the vehicle is genuine or fake.

Concerned citizens in Islamabad are reporting almost daily to Islamabad police about some foreign nationals of western origin who are accused of moving in the capital with fake number plates. However, Islamabad Police and civil administration are helpless to stop them, said an official of Islamabad Police.

He said that some foreigners and their local employees have been accused of using diplomatic vehicles with fake number plates for 'nefarious activities' but the police are being ordered to stop as and when it takes notice of such movement/activities. Dutch diplomats and American diplomat were arrested, along with sophisticated weapons and hi-tech cameras, but were allowed to go after intervention from their diplomatic missions, he added.

Intelligence sources said that Zaffar Iqbal was under surveillance for a long time, and added that during the course of the investigation it was learnt that he was the main motivator for recruiting retired servicemen for 'Xe Services' (previous named Blackwater World-wide), which is operating under cover with Inter-Risk Security company. Sources said that during the investigation it was learnt that Zaffar Iqbal owns three plots in Bahria Town , one of the posh areas of the capital, and three more in Beharia Town in Lahore with several luxury vehicles. He is said to have close links with a top builder and developer of, and is a regular visitor to, Dubai.

Sources said that detained Zaffar Iqbal has close links with Captain (Retd) Zaidi, owner of Inter-Risk Security Agency which was raided on September 19 and a huge cache of unlicensed sophisticated weapons was impounded. Captain Zaidi, a retired officer of SSG was arrested from Islamabad office of his security company.

Inter-Risk security agency is a partner of the Dyncorp, an American contractor company providing logistic support to US forces in Afghanistan Sources said that Zaffar Iqbal retired from SSG in 1989. Sources informed this scribe that the Interior Ministry has taken serious note of the hiring of retired commandos and directed the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to investigate the matter and submit a report in two weeks.

I dunno why the media is hushed up about this, especially since this is the first time there is some tangible evidence against the American contracted soldiers.

.
Now this is big. Very big. I have always doubted American involvement in terrorism, however this is something totally different. Not sure what to make out of this though. Are they under CIA orders or payroll of someone else or doing this independently? Independently seems unlikely as they always work for someone else. Either way, big story.

I believe this news was first reported about 2 weeks or so back, even TV channels had shown this news repeatedly.

It got posted somewhere on the forum too and was discussed too.

I'm afraid the Nation newspaper is not a very credible source considering the daily rantings of its neo-con editor - Shireen Mazari.

Hell, there is an online advertisement ridiculing the credibility of The Nation - posted on this very forum!

If this is such a big story, why are the much respected dailies like The News, Daily Times and Dawn not reporting it?

I believe it was not only reported by The Nation, but my multiple sources too, even TV news channels ran this report but this was more then 2 weeks back, so i believe not many people saw it.

And that advertisement ridiculing The Nation is for exposing an American journalist who was involved in questionable activities with Pakistani officials and crossing his limits which he or other such journalists are not authorized to do so.

I do believe you know what kind of reaction is seen when an American gets involved in any kind of such issues. :)

I would encourage you to post a link from a respected source like the News and Dawn if you want people to take this story seriously.

Trust me, scouring through the net for anything on this.

Apparently there has been an arrest of DynCorp trying to bribe right up to the interior ministry... That's Rahman Malik's domain who has been long dubbed as the American second in command of Pakistan.

There are tid bits of information on DynCorp.

DAWN.COM | National | Recruitment by Inter-Risk for DynCorp: Two interrogated for distributing forms

Normally I don't like to quote AhmedQuraishi on "Americans in Pakistan" issues because of his association with Zaid Hamid but in this case he tagged it with a photo:

On the flipside if it IS another scaremongering drama by the Zaid Hamid gang, they should be arrested for it. As someone said up there... This is big.

Try to dig it up for me and merge it with this one... I believe it got buried in because of Eid and then the Dubai crash n all that.

Not exactly a report on the original arrest I pointed out, but heres another very credible source reporting its run ins with the law:

Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

Two police raids last month on Inter-Risk – a subcontractor for the US firm DynCorp International – turned up dozens of unlicensed weapons, police officials told The Washington Times.

The newspaper said the raids appeared to have exposed mixed signals within the government and “the lack of trust that continues to plague US relations with Pakistan”.

Police raided Inter-Risk six months after US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson wrote a letter to Interior Minister Rehman Malik asking for licenses for normally prohibited high-calibre weapons.

A senior Pakistani defence official privy to the situation said there had been “extraordinary concern among government officials over DynCorp”.

Hmmm although in this case Rahman Malik seems to be speaking against them. Probably trying to distance himself from the ongoing investigations into the corruption scandal between the ministry and Dyncorp

DynCorp, not Blackwater, working in Pakistan: Malik

By Tahir Niaz

ISLAMABAD: Denying presence of US security agency, Blackwater (Xe Worldwide) in the country, Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday said a few personnel of US security company DynCorp have been allowed to work in Karachi to provide security to US personnel present in Afghanistan.

Addressing the National Assembly, Malik said DynCorp had been working in Afghanistan for security purposes and was committed to abide by Pakistani laws.

However, he said the company officials travelled under a security cover provided by Pakistani agencies from Pakistan to the Afghan border, adding that they were not allowed to stay in Pakistan.

The interior minister said no foreigner was allowed to carry and display weapons without a licence, adding that security agencies had been instructed to take action against those violating the law.

I want to know if any action has been taken against Dyn Corp or Black Water militias who are working in Pakistan. Who are the traitors in govt circles who are allowing these Zionist to operate on Pak soil in this critical phase of history when Pak army is busy with TTP and nuclear installations also needs to be protected more than before.
I think General Kiyani should raise the matter with the Corrupt rulers to stop these activities for once and all. The traitors whether related to govt or inside armed forces must be brought to justice.

Something is going on behind the scenes... The government, the Americans or the contractors aren't letting much on. The conspiracy theorists are churning out one conspiracy after another. We will know more once more reputable news sources have something concrete to report on.

I agree to you brother, this has already been posted in a thread and we already had our say on it.

I think it should be better to merge this thread with the previous one.
