DRDO-A Glimpse.

@jarves

Hi,
i cant possibly tell the time when L273 will be inducted into forces,but i am guessing,it will be definitely fitted onto the LCA MK-2,as mk-1 will continue to use EL/M-2032.
As for the L-273,it is pretty advanced radar,as it incorporates,indian designed and patented 4-channel TRMM.Itz power output is <4kW and with ~660mm nose dia it offers a PAP figure of close to 1.6 -2kW/m^2. Now from PAP's perspective it isnt something very impressive,but the true potential of L-273 lies in it's digital beam forming capabilities(as i am guessing DBF has been incorporated in L-273 as well- because DBF has been used in ashwin and arudhra radars of LRDE).
If we assume,DBF to be present in L-273 then in all likelyhood it would be much better than any radar PAF has or will get(in a fighter)

@Donatello

I would like to bring your attention to the piece of information revealed by DRDO regarding their project uttam or L-273. L-273 with digital beam forming would be miles ahead of any radar PAF has or will obtain in near future.
Also have a look at GTRE's miniaturized GT for cruise missile application,one important thing that one can quickly realize is that this one is more powerful than the russian one (410kgf as compared to 380kgf). This will surely go on to increase the effective range of nirbhay cruise missile system

PS-This is an yearly report of DRDO-2014

Here is a list of some of the major achievements of DRDO till mid 2014........ for more products and images go through the pdf....

Aditya: Vehicle-Mounted High Power Laser Directed Energy System
The system aims to cause structural damage to RPVs/UAVs/DRONEs and disable electro-optical
systems, employing CO2 gas dynamic laser source with required beam control technologies. The
performance parameters of laser generation system have been optimised and laser beam has been
successfully extracted. The damage potential of the laser beam has been evaluated. Integrated
gimbal system and target tracking systems were evaluated and have met mission requirements.

Transportable 1kW Solid-state Laser, Lords, for Ordnance Disposal
A vehicle-mounted prototype solid-state laser ordnance disposal system has been developed and
test evaluated successfully. A successful stand-off disposal of 13 types of ordnances and IEDs in
large numbers was conducted at Ramgarh Range. The field evaluation of the system was carried out
at TBRL in the presence of the Users to dispose ordnances of varying geometries and different kinds.
