BEIJING - Investment in China's railways in 2015 is still growing despite an economic slowdown.

China spent 820 billion yuan ($126 billion) on rail projects in 2015 and put more than 9,000 kilometers of new track into operation, meeting its annual targets of 800 billion yuan investment and 8,000 kilometers of new lines, according to China Railway Corporation.

With a newly completed high-speed railway track in the southern Hainan province, China now has 19,000 kilometers of high-speed rail.

The fast growth of railway construction projects came at a time when the country is enduring continuous deceleration in the growth of fixed-asset investment. In the first 11 months of 2015, fixed-asset investment grew 10.2 percent year on year, slowing from 13.9 percent of growth seen at the beginning of this year.

As usual, targets are smashed. China way. The normal normal.

.
9000 km in one year :o

well i wonder if CPEC project will have train then it will take only a year or less to complete as its not more than 1500 km from china border to gawadar ,

9000km railways were finished in 2016, not built within one year.
I don't know much about CPEC, but I think a railway would be too complicated to be built crossing Karakoram.

China EMU train passes high speed test
It has passed high speed test(385km/h) and low-speed test.
All tests will be finished by Feb. 2015, then it will receive 600,000km trial operation on numerous high-speed railways of various geological conditions across China.

U can see the sensors on the trains.

reach 19,000 Kilometers this year? That's crazy !
No one can beat China in Engineering matter. China is the best :china:

My Favorite High Speed Train @AndrewJin :smitten:
Sky blue or the golden one?
Blue from China South Railway, golden from China North Railway.
Though altogether called CRRC outside China, they are still in fierce competition within China for better products and technology.

CRH 0503, the Golden one.
More luxury design in my eyes :D

btw, why China South Railway and North Railway not merger and become one Gigantic Railway Corporation?

It has been merged into CRRC. But domestically, these two subsidiaries are still considered competitors. Competition is good, but not good internationally. The merging is intended for overseas market. I think it's still better to keep them separately domestically. Like this standardised CRH350 project which started in 2013, every company worked on their own model based on the same Chinese standards.

Thanks for the info, bro.

Nice pict ! I love it :smitten:
I still not believe what China achieve in High Speed Train matter, just one word, AMAZING !!! :coffee:

So, HSR in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc will use the Blue one? and HSR in Beijing, Shenyang, etc will use the Golden one?
or will determined by tender?

It is still under test.
Currently, 385km/h speed test has been passed. Next will be 600,000km operational run across China.
I don't think it is about "north" or "south", finally, quality talks. Let's wait to see their performances in their subsequent tests.

I think it's a brilliant strategy.

Keep the two subsidiaries (China South Railway, China North Railway) separate within China to foster competition. This will sort of keep them on their toes, so to speak.

Once a company becomes a monopoly, all innovation goes down the drain and it will look for ways to take advantage of the customers.

From what I understand, the merged CRRC is only for foreign tendering. It is to prevent them from "killing" each other overseas.

Yes, it is to prevent "killing" each other.
Not just between CNR and CSR, within CSR/CNR, there are numerous subsidiaries.
For China's railway technology research, there is fierce competition too!

From what I know, I don't think it's 9,000 km in the year 2015. I think it's more like 4,000 km in the year of 2015.

China was able to complete 4,000 km of HSR last year (2015) because:-
- these HSR lines commenced construction two to four years ago (only completed in 2015).
- multiple teams are building multiple lines simultaneously. (The 4,000 km was not built by one team in one year).

When it comes to building massive infrastructure projects, China's track record is second to none.

My country Australia has been talking about building a HSR along the eastern coast for at least the last 30 years but there is still no sign of it. (It makes me mad, especially the Sydney - Melbourne air corridor is one of the busiest in the world and needs a HSR badly).

Meanwhile, China has built its 19,000 km HSR (although some lines were upgraded) in the last 8 years.

While we were busy talking, China is doing the building.

Damn, we are good in talking the talk, but China is actually doing the walk.
