The police in Yunnan Province began to trace the woman in June 2000. It took 21 years to identify the DNA of more than 2000 people before determining the woman's location. The reason why it took so much time is that no one called the police and had to take the initiative to find clues for investigation.

Three criminals have been arrested in this case of human trafficking.

The woman's false identity information came from 2000. I was asking a legitimate question as I don’t watch the news in China. But I do visit forums there and from the discussion, it seems Chinese has no knowledge of the case.
