Dozens of civilians – mostly children – have been killed, and many more wounded, in an airstrike by the US-backed, Saudi-led coalition in Yemen that hit a bus in the rebel-held north of the country.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), one of the few humanitarian institutions helping civilians on the ground in the war-torn country, said that a hospital supported by the organisation has received dozens of casualties following the attack at a market in Dahyan, in the Sa’ada governorate.

“Under international humanitarian law, civilians must be protected during conflict,” the organisation tweeted.

Johannes Bruwer, head of delegation for the ICRC in Yemen, tweeted: “Scores killed, even more injured, most under the age of 10.”

It was not possible to confirm the death toll, but Abdul-Ghani Nayeb, a health department chief in Saada, said 43 were killed and at least 61 injured, according to Reuters. There was no immediate comment from the Saudi-led coalition.

The Saudi-led coalition, also backed by the UAE, has launched a military intervention in Yemen since 2015 aimed at countering the advances of Iran-backed Houthis, who are viewed by Riyadh as Iranian proxies. The Saudi intervention is also aimed at reinstating the ousted president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Riyadh and Tehran are on the opposing ends of the three-year conflict in Yemen. In recent months, Saudi and UAE coalition forces have advanced towards the port city of Hodeidah, which is held by Houthis and is where most aid and food come through Yemen. In response, Houthis have intensified missile attacks on Saudi soil and targets, and recently Houthi missile attacks on two oil tankers off the Yemeni coast led to Saudi Arabia temporarily suspending oil shipments through the strategic shipping lane of Bab al-Mandeb.

In recent weeks, the Saudi-led coalition has been accused of carrying out airstrikes near Hodeidah, the focus of fierce fighting, claiming the lives of more than 25 people and injuring 50 more. The bombs fell close to a hospital and fish market.

The spokesman of the coalition backing the legitimate Yemeni national army said that “the targeting that took place today in the governorate of Saada, is a legitimate military action to target elements that planned and carried out attacks targeting civilians yesterday evening in Jizan that killed and wounded civilians.”

He added that this operation was “implemented in accordance with international humanitarian law and customary rules.”

Colonel al-Maliki said the coalition will take all necessary actions against the criminal, terrorist acts of pro-Iranian Houthi militias, such as the recruitment and placement of children on battle fronts and "using them as tools to cover for their terrorist acts."

He stressed that the Houthi leaders and terrorist elements responsible for firing ballistic missiles and targeting civilians will be targeted as part of the coalition efforts to prevent terrorist elements from harming regional and international security.

An Iranian of all people in the world is posting unverified news (most likely Houthi terrorist cult propaganda - a terrorist group famous for hiding among civilians and using 1000's of child soldiers) while his regime has been a leading backer of the Al-Assad regime in Syria that has killed 300.000 + civilians while civilian casualties in Yemen in 3.5 years of fighting (by all parties) do not even reach 12.000. Oh, the irony.

Saudi-led coalition: The strike targeting children's bus in Saada was a legitimate military action.

Just to give you a perspective on the kind of beasts Yemenis are fighting against.

The Al-Jazeera terrorist channel making up fake statements and that Arabized and Arab-obsessed Iranian that cannot count to 10 in Arabic swallows it.

You can cry all you want to. Civilian casualties are the norm in wars especially against a terrorist cult that makes a living out of hiding among civilians and using 1000's of child soldiers.

They will be rooted out of Yemen and they are in need of creating fake propaganda (sometimes they shell those areas themselves in order to make gullible people believe their propaganda) when they are getting spanked by the Yemeni army, KSA and the Arab coalition on the ground.

This news came out shortly after the diplomatic tussle between Saudi and Canada.

That is always the case if you notice. Just after every Houthi terrorist cult defeat, they invent some arbitrary bombing as if KSA and the Arab coalition could not have razed the few remaining Houthi terrorist cult-occupied towns to the ground years ago if they wanted and used the approach of Al-Assad and certain others in the region.

Dialogue with a 24 year old terrorist cult that has waged several wars against Yemen, which shells KSA on a weekly basis and which is a torn in the side of Yemen, will never be accepted. Yemenis will not accept them either and their defeat is soon.

There should be no dialogues with terrorist cults. Rather a bullet to the head unless they surrender or leave the terrorist cult. Those who call for dialogue with terrorist cults should insist that their own countries do the same.

If KSA, the Yemeni government and Arab coalition begin to do that Yemen will end up as Afghanistan were terrorist groups are considered "legitimate" political players. Should never happen.

Anyway this section of PDF is pure poison and a troll central. Many Arabized and Arab-obsessed individuals post here. Hence I tend to stick to the Arab section where there is already a thread about the Yemeni civil war. Let the trolls here bark and pretend that they care about Yemenis out of sudden. No Arab is buying their fake tears while supporting terrorist cults.

Here lies the contention. This is not acceptable even form a military perspective. They are also Yemeni by any yard stick. At least provide them with an easy way out. Sure you folks have the capability to strike and to shower wealth---

Vast majority of ISIS members in Iraq and Syria were local Iraqis and Syrians. Where was the dialogue there? Mosul was liberated and 1000's upon 1000's of civilians died (some sources say more than in Yemen combined after 3.5 years of fighting) and many more fled. Where was the dialogue there? Does Turkey negotiate with PKK? Iran with their many militant groups? Israel? USA? Pakistan with radical terrorist cults?

Why should such an option even be considered right now (BTW there have been such negotiations unfortunately, if you ask me) when the Houthi terrorist cult is close to defeat?

. .
They are native to the Yemeni land and one must sow hatred and enmity among the locals

It does not matter from where backward, incompetent and violent terrorist cult members are from. They are such patriots that they have waged several wars against the Yemeni state since the terrorist cult was created back in 1994. They are such Yemeni patriots that the terrorist cult started this entire civil war by occupying most of Yemen and looting it, killing 1000's in the process. Threatening KSA on behalf of their puppet masters (wannabe Arab Mullah regime in sanctioned and failed Iran) while in addition posing a long-term security threat for KSA (South Southern KSA at least) and our interests in our backyard. That was luckily not accepted and there is work in progress to diminish this terrorist cult further by creating an entire new Yemeni army from scratch etc. which is doing most of the ground fighting with support from the Arab coalition.

.
Pakistan with radical terrorist cults?
Yes sir we waited and waited and waited for them to get thier acts together only after then the mil ops were put into effect. Although its another story that the majority was of Arab chechen and central Asian stock

Do you see any end to the Yemenis miseries?

Do you see any end to the Yemenis miseries?

I don't believe that at all. 95% + of all the terrorists in Pakistan are native. Rest are mostly Afghans and Uzbeks. Arabs were a negligible number and mostly escaped to Northwestern Pakistan after the US invasion of Afghanistan. We are talking about some 200-400 people. Using such a logic, because Pakistanis have been involved in terrorism acts in KSA and other foreigners, I could make a similar ridiculous claim of most domestic terrorist attacks being done by foreigners. Luckily such attacks can be counted on 2 hands in the past 10 + years.

I do. Once the green color engulfs the last remaining parts of Yemen (the terrorist cult can continue to control their mountainous strongholds which are of no relevance if locals are dumb enough to accept the terrorist cult, will just mean that they will face zero development while other parts of Yemen will) then there will be options of long-standing peace but unfortunately not everyone is interested in that inside Yemen, regionally or internationally. Anyway it is the job of Yemenis to improve their ancient and beautiful country as it has much potential, a greatly strategic geopolitical location, a large population (30 million) that is growing quickly and much land at their disposal. Talented people by large too. I only wish them the best and the same can be said about most Saudi Arabians and Arabs. A strong and stable Yemen is always a good thing for KSA and the region.

Meanwhile for others in the region, their sole interests are to create misery wherever their dirty proxies are found. A constant in the past 40 years.

Anyway I am leaving this thread and section as per my previous comments as there is not much more to be added.
