Don't Interfere in Our Internal Affairs: Nepal PM Oli Warns India

. . .
the deceased father saying he went to Nepal on personal work

LOL..you didn't understand.

“The 19-year-old who was killed in firing by Nepal police is an Indian citizen. His name is Ashish Kumar Ram and he was living in Raxaul with his maternal grandfather Ashok Ram who is an employee of the BSNL,” Raxaul Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar told The Indian Express.

“We don’t have a lot of information regarding the circumstances. We have been told by witnesses that he was killed very close to the border on the Nepal side. He was going to Birgunj on a visit. Ghoomney ja raha tha.” Kumar said the body hasn’t been handed over to the Indian side yet.

A 19-year-old student from Darbhanga in Bihar was killed Monday after Nepal police opened fire near the border to prevent Madhesi protesters from retaking a bridge that demarcates the Raxaul-Birgunj border between the two countries.

Indian authorities had cleared the bridge for polling Sunday but tents put up by Madhesi protesters were not removed. This was the first time when the bridge was cleared — Madhesis, protesting against the new Constitution of Nepal, have been on a sit-in on no-man’s land in the middle of the bridge since August.

The deceased was identified after a phone call was made to his maternal uncle from his mobile, police said.

Sources said the body is likely to be brought Tuesday. Residents said Ashish was from Darbhanga and had come to study in Raxaul where his maternal grandfather was posted.

Thank you for the clarification.. Unfortunate incident caught in a cross fire, Dont really understand why Mr.Modi needs to call the Nepali PM if it's regarding this though.. Again it's an internal matter of Nepal a Indian being at the wrong place at the wrong time.. Wonder if a random Indian person in the middle of New York gets gunned down by a gangbanger would Mr. Modi call up Mr.Obama ?

.
WTF ? Was a Indian doing amidst a separatist protest in Nepal ? Especially with such high profile internal unrest ? Highly unlikely a "innocent" bystander
Madheshi protest is not a separatist one .. but the way it is being handled by current nepali leadership will surely make it one.

problem is the open border b/w Nepal and india. in some cases half the family lives in Nepal and other half in India. any tension in the border area will create refugee influx into india.

History shows otherwise.. Especially those in the South Asian context and if it involves so called Indian origin populations

so called Indian origin population is more than 50 % of population of Nepal.

so called Indian origin population is more than 50 % of population of Nepal.

51% of Indian origin is nothing but propagation by vested interests.. Very common as i said in the context of civil unrest in the region if it involves so called Indian populations.. Exaggerations of population numbers and distortion of history one of the tools used to legitimize unwarranted interventions

" The people of Indian origin (generally Madhesi) comprised about 35.9% country's population, of which 18% are Madhesis, particularly the Maithils. The other major ethnic minority in the Terai of Nepal are the autochthonous Tharu people "

No surprise that the majority live in the more flat arable land than the mountainous regions, But its gross distortion to say that majority population of Nepal are of Indian origin

How about you stick to the topic, which is that the the moron in India can't stop Indian extremists from killing innocents over the consumption of meat and is whining about the actions taken by Nepali security forces to maintain order.

You ask me to stick to the topic and then go talking about India ? Medhasi community in Nepal is upset at Nepal leadership and security forces, blaming India is taking the pakistani route. Cant solve their internal problems, point fingers at others

Madhesh ( Middle country) is the flat region of Nepal inhabited by people of Indian Origin and tribal. Together they form 51% of the population of Nepal. Even in the Hilly region significant population is of Indian origin.

Again gross distortion.. Even though the Madhesh or Terai area holds 51% of the Nepali population, The people of Indian origin comprises just 35% of the country and out of that only 18% are Madheshi.. Easy manipulations for those with vested interests as i mentioned earlier

Please provide proof if other wise without making general assumptions

"The flat southern region of Nepal - the Terai - is known as Madhesh (Madhesh) in the Nepalese language and its indigenous inhabitants are called Madhesi.[4] Terai is a southern strip of the country. The Terai region is mostly a flatland. People of Terai are culturally distinct. According to the population census in 2011, Terai occupies 17% of the total area of Nepal and has 51% (22% Madhesi and 29 Non-Madhesi) of the Nepalese population.

The Madhesi comprise a collection of different communities. The term Madhesh refers to the Indo-Gangetic Plain between theGanges and the Indo-Nepal border.

While in 2011 more than 50% of the total population was reported to be living in the Terai. The people of Indian origin (generally Madhesi) comprised about 35.9% country's population, of which 18% are Madhesis, particularly the Maithils. The other major ethnic minority in the Terai of Nepal are the autochthonous Tharu people"
