You're wrong, its not happening, its reversing, on ground Zarb-e-Azb has delivered results, NAP is being implemented. As a whole in society changes are happening slowly and steadily. An example can be of Diwali, Christmas, Easter all have been declared national holidays. A vibrant media is increasingly representing the case of minorities, just 2 days ago people were hanged involved in persecution of a christian couple, Mumtaz Qadri was hanged, all this represents a paradigm shift.
India is regressing, to the point where Pakistan was in 1980's where religio-nationalism was being induced at state level. Here we are talking about revamping our government school textbooks which were changed for a purpose in 1980's , completely revising the syllabus , yet in India, they are talking about putting in textbooks, that actual borders of Akhand Bharat are at Afghanistan, with Kandhar included in it. Both states and changing gradually with newly socially constructed ideas.



Forsure brother, Pakistan was forced to become a nuclear power for this reason. Today Chinese and Pakistani interests have aligned through CPEC and OBOR, its a ambitious regional economic integration program, that is giving sleepless nights to our Indian friends.

If the said changes that you have mentioned in pakistan are happening then I am very happy today to have learned about it.
As for india regressing into a hindu fundamentalists society then I have full faith on our democratic process, Mr Modi & co can say goodbye to the parliament house if this happens.

If what you said is true then why did the republic of pakistan turn into the islamic republic of pakistan in mid 1950s. Mr jinnah wanted a republic and a secular state where everyone is equal.

It was a mistake that Pakistan became a pseudo religious state and thanks to Zia for that and others before/after him. But till Jinnah lived not once did Pakistan show signs of straying from its secular birth.

There were a number of reasons. First of all Jinnah wanted to protect political rights of muslims. He wanted an inclusive, moderate and participatory democratic polity. With his death, the main politicians of Muslim League were from UP in India , they weren't native to Pakistan, they used religion as a political tool to gather support of locals, since they had no support base for electoral politics in Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunwa, Sindh or Balochistan. Ayub liberalized and westernized the society to a certain level, again Bhutto came and formalized the Islamic Republic status in 1973 constitution. Zia-ul-Haq took religio-nationalism to its zenith, mainly due to regional geopolitics, he changed the syllabus to induce religio nationalism, to suit his political ends. The civilian govts of 90's maintained the same status quo with less vigor.
It was Musharaf who brought the concept of "Enlightened Moderation" after the Global war on terror started, coupled with that he brought in freedom of speech and expression, where for the first time media was openly criticizing and even abusing the government on some occasions. It was 2007 lawyers movement, which brought a dramatic change , coupled with Media campaign which brought down a powerful man like Musharaf. Pakistan as a society began to experience the negative side affects of religio-nationalism induced in 80's at state level. Thus a concentrated campaign began for reforms as the terror attacks caused damage from 2008-13. It was in 2014 , when Zarb-e-Azb was in initial stages, APS attack happened , that caused a major paradigm shift in policy. Zarb-e-Azb brought down the terror incidents by 80%, NAP was implemented in cities with people distributing hate material being arrested. Many mullahs using loudspeakers to spew sectarian hate were arrested, Mumtaz Qadri was hanged, the sectarian kingpin Maulvi Ishaq was taken to a location and neutralized in fake encounter. As mentioned Diwali , Christmas and Easter made national holidays.
Non muslims especially politicians are becoming more vocal on media.

Its a multi pronged strategy being planned by government.

1) Reviving local cultures ( since Pakistan is multi cultural)

2) Educational reforms , where the link between state and religion is revised.

3) Democratic Institutions and Judiciary is strengthened, as was the case, when warring sides (govt and opposition) respected Supreme Court's decision when it intervened. Serving PM Gillani was disqualified by Supreme Court and had to leave his seat.

So changes are happening gradually, albeit slowly.

What is fake in it? 25th December (Christmas) is already a national holiday since its the birth day of Jinnah. Easter, Holi and Diwali are declared national holidays, even a resolution was adopted in National Assembly.

Zia was not a bad man. He was religious, but If there was such an entity such as TTP during his tenure he would have crushed them mercilessly. Zia ul Haq was my relative. He was a no nonsense religious guy. Although he believed in Ummah, he would never let it get to him at the cost of Pakistan. In fact, he was a very shrewd and wise man.
