What's new

Don't be afraid, i call it 'free speech'.

When you have 3 robber and thief brothers in a family of 7,

What will be the reputation of the family.

Even when two from the remaining ones are heart surgeons?

Would you be willing to give rishta (hand in marriage) of your family girls into that family?
Would you call the reputation of that family "total misunderstanding"?
Sir will you punish other family members too for the crimes of the 3 robbers?

British authorities must curb extremism and finances in UK.

This is the full text of the letter, it is NOT blaming all the Muslim community, I agree with most of the points of this letter. I suggest everyone to read it before condemning it.

Assalamu Alaikum

We have recently seen terrible atrocities committed in Paris. Finding the right response to these events is a challenge for everyone. The hijacking of a great faith to justify such heinous crimes sickens us all. As Muslims around the world have made clear, such actions are an affront to Islam.

And yet, amid the carnage, came a sign of hope - over three million people of all backgrounds marching to defeat the gunmen and to protect our values: free speech, the rule of law, and democracy.

We are proud of the reaction of British communities to this attack. Muslims from across the country have spoken out to say: not in our name.

But there is more work to do. We must show our young people, who may be targeted, that extremists have nothing to offer them. We must show them that there are other ways to express disagreement: that their right to do so is dependent on the very freedoms that extremists seek to destroy.

We must show them the multitude of statements of condemnation from British Muslims; show them these men of hate have no place in our mosques or any place of worship, and that they do not speak for Muslims in Britain or anywhere in the world.

Let us assure you that the Government will do all we can to defeat the voices of division, but ultimately the challenges of integration and radicalisation cannot be solved from Whitehall alone. Strong community-based leadership at a local level is needed.

You, as faith leaders, are in a unique position in our society. You have a precious opportunity, and an important responsibility: in explaining and demonstrating how faith in Islam can be part of British identity. We believe together we have an opportunity to demonstrate the true nature of British Islam today.

There is a need to lay out more clearly than ever before what being a British Muslim means today: proud of your faith and proud of your country.

We know that acts of extremism are not representative of Islam; but we need to show what is.
British values are Muslim values. Like all faiths, Islam and its message of peace and unity makes our country a better and stronger place, and Britain would be diminished without its strong Muslim communities.
Every day, mosques and other faith institutions across the country are providing help for those in need, and acting as a centre for our communities. It is these positive contributions that are the true messages of faith and it is these contributions that need to be promoted.

We would also like to reassure you that in recent days we have met with police chiefs to make sure they are providing the support that mosques need, a concern that some of you have expressed in our recent discussions.
We have also met with the Anti-Muslim Hatred Working Group to hear their concerns about responses to the recent attacks and what more can be done.

Anyone experiencing violence should report it to the police online on the True Vision website or to TELL MAMA, a service to provide support specifically to Muslim victims of hatred.
The vitriol espoused by the thugs of the English Defence League and Britain First is just as much an affront to British values as the teachings of preachers of hate.

For organisations experiencing problems with such preachers, information about free legal advice is available from LawWorks at LawWorks for Community Groups or the Bar Pro Bono Unit at The Bar Pro Bono Unit: Free Legal Advice and Representation and the Charity Commission has published a toolkit for charity leaders to help protect their organisations from abuse by extremists. This toolkit is available at Protecting charities from abuse for extremist purposes - Publications - GOV.UK
We welcome your thoughts, ideas and initiatives on how to ensure that Islam's true message of peace triumphs over those who seek to divide our communities.

Thank you for all the positive work you are doing, and we look forward to working with you further. We continue to appreciate all your insights. Please feel free to contact our team at integration@communities.gsi.gov.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

The thing is that neither is Brtain, France, Belgium, Netherkands, Germany on any other European country blameless.

These countries did nothing when their citizens came to Pakistan to get training for terrorist activities and committed terrorist acts against Pakistan and Afghanistan.

When these trained terrorists went back to their countries---they did not arrest them on arrival, persecute them and execute them for their terrorist activities.

But they threatened to impose sanctions on Pakistan if Pakistan went ahead and executed / hanged anyone.

What I am saying is that these European govt's are guilty of harboring terrorists who had killed people on foreign lands or had participated in the illing of people o foreign lands or have trained to kill people and to sabotage.

People like Anjum Chaudhry and another hindu converted to islam have been openly recruiting terrorists in Britain to go kill other muslims in foreign lands---these guys were on Fox news lately.

So---as long as these terrorists are killing muslims in other countries---Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherland did not have any issue or concerns---they did not do anything to stop it.

Now this fire---this menace has reached their shores and lit up the community and they are feeling the pain---now they are screaming in pain.

Read my post again.

I was talking about "reputation" of the family as pointed out by the poster I responded to.

Yes @FaujHistorian i do agree that reputation of the family of 7 will be effected by 3 robbers. But lets take up this example in the broader perspective;
"Will these 3 robbers going to ruin the reputation of the whole nation of peculiar country?.....(Keeping in view that there are black sheeps in every society)" ...........Well i think that framing and blaming the whole community for the acts of an individuals, is not the right thing. And sir just think for a second that, will you going to take the blame of some one whom you dont even know!

bad reputation is dependent on the fact that robbers are lionized or criminalized.

Well sir i think that its the exact other way around, that an acts of the robbers develops the reputation.
If some one do bad things, he is deemed as bad and vice versa. But painting people on basis of things that they havent do is not fair!

Pure idiocy and intolerance on the part of the usually tolerant will only strengthen the extremists and the facists.

I've long been barking about this now, wherever I find the platform. Europe is changing, every event is another step to normalcy of Islamophobia and general blaming of the Muslim community.

Count me in for that one, lots of members here have been asking for his arrest and an end to his hate speech.

Some odd combo of factors has left British Muslims, specially British Pakistanis and Bengalis seriously vulnerable to poverty, crime, extremism and general backwardness.

If you compare the average man walking down the street in one of our hubs in Birmingham compared to some more affluent parts just a few miles away. You can see how easily ignorance and backwardness festers in these parts. It's endemic.

One generation of backward people raises a newer equally backward generation, that is by comparison more backward compared to an ever changing world. You have to see it first hand. It's as if all the useless people back home and all the illiterates jumped on a plane and set up ghettos here.

In London, the situation is better, but Bradford, Luron, parts of Birmingham. I can tell you, I wouldn't want to live among those people even as a Pakistani. I couldn't go a day without ranting at some poor b@stard on the street for their stupidity.

I've been barking about it for as long as I've been here. A friend of mine that had a blog at his university's Islamic society wrote at least 2 articles in which he said that the man should be jailed, deported, pushed off a cliff.
Choudary has never directly called for terrorism. He makes sure to choose his words very carefully. That's why nobody has managed to nab him

All the more reason to shoot the sneaky terrorist down. This is one of those issues being discussed in the media. That fella hates freedom of speech, but right now, it's just about the only thing protecting him from the consequences of his words.

You might be taking things too far, I lived in pakistani areas...and bangladeshi areas in london .. its not too bad.
disclosure: I am not posh and I am used to filth (am Indian)... :p:

ontopic: I think govt should not have sent such mail, even if the intent is good, its a bad idea.

In London sure, London is a lot better. Have you seen some areas in Bradford, Luton, parts of Birmingham. They have very closed communities, nobody leaves, nobody works outside of them, entire generations and their upbringing of people defined within a square mile.
