Donations only hope in crisis-hit Greece
Lingering debt crisis and worsening living conditions have forced many people in Greece to rely on donations made by their fellow countrymen, Press TV reports.
A charity called "We Can" has brought together a group of volunteers in the capital Athens to provide food for 85 poor families.
Members of the group use private cars to make daily deliveries to needy families.
I have four kids myself and instead of being miserable at home and feeling depressed like those people who have started to commit suicide I have found an outlet in this volunteering, a member told Press TV.
It soothes my heart and feeds a lot of people. Through this action we help 120 people every day.
Greece has been at the epicenter of the eurozone debt crisis, while harsh government-introduced austerity measures have resulted in more than a quarter of Greeks losing their jobs.
One in every five Greek workers is currently unemployed, banks are in a shaky position, and pensions and salaries have been slashed by up to 40 percent.
The long-drawn-out eurozone debt crisis, which began in Greece in late 2009 and reached Italy, Spain, and France in 2011, is viewed as a threat not only to Europe but also to many of the worlds other developed economies.
