Am ashamed to say but here in Andhra Pradesh previous years (2 or 3) we have witnessed such attacks on women frequently for some months. It was mostly rejected lovers some jilted midway too and in certain cases cheated husband (just one or two) before it could become a trend some awareness was created in media and the police also took timely action.

In India we men aren't yet ready for complete equal status for women, particularly being rejected is even more painful for sure. It will take time and being honest even i feel women shouldn't be doing this or that. I mean not about education and job but dressing habits etc it comes with years of male prejudice in society.

The same so called rejected sick heads known as lovers or some bullies are involved in acid attacks in Pakistan too

This is the travesty of our sub continent man, where in verses we talk of women as goddess.

You can not change a mentality unless someone wants to change it in themselves! Asian mentality is a whole topic on its own! And sadly, isn't a pleasant one! Awareness and educating these people is one...But I believe it should be drilled in since childhood!

If the males do not respect the females of the family, the child

rarely learns to respect women

Zarvan the article is not linking acid attacks to islam, but urging muslim nations to tacke the issue precisely because islam does not permit it.

Judgemental nothing, I base my replies on factual statements. You accuse me of being judgemental yet you're the only one here making judgmental statements. You referred to all men as partaking in this kind of behavior, when the reality of the situation is that this couldn't be father from the truth. As far as the term "idiot" being a hate comment. what do you think? If I called you an "idiot" for your comments, would you take that as a compliment? Oh, but as you say, "I wasn't directing it at you" So in your mind it is OK to make disparaging remarks as long as it doesn't target out a single person.

I had to witness the pain of women when she was pregnant. God, i dont have any words to describe this. Amount of pain she has to bear when she gives birth to some one....
Normally women are so sensitive just if you pinch them also they cant bear the pain. But they enjoy pregnancy. Trust me if it was me, then surly i wouldnt accept this.
