Do I just represent the ‘honor’ of the men in my family?

There are way too many issues in Pakistan lol that is something undeniable.
I don't see where and what is this "revolution" you speak of. All i see is a dead country which speaks up for gossip and goes back to being a graveyard.

I don't have to be at peace with the situation just because I want to live peacefully and free. Thats the typical thinking of our failed nation "If you don't like it here, go to the kafir west hah we ain't changing". smh

When even a local barber and farmer says to me ' That reality has come forward, people are politicizing 'trash'. That is what politics is to Pakistanis and when masses tire out it may take a non-issue to galvanize them and throw everyone out. '

The seeds have been laid. All is needed that people instead of aiming to be leaders they aim to be strict followers.

Strict followers of what? Islam? or law? LOL

Nah i don't see it happening anytime soon. People don't even speak out or take actual steps of dog meat being sold in the market, and they are going to do anything about the huge massive issues? meh

Strict follower of law made by Parliament under the Objective Resolution 1956.

You will not be able to provoke me by mentioning religion.
I will give you 2 honest reasons for that:

a) Religion is a deeply private matter
b) I am too old.

You can be really be effective if you let the emotions stay far away from the keyboard.

I'm not provoking you. i'm a muslim as well, its just surprising that most of Islamic laws like sharia are the most unislamic thing on the planet itself and are used as an excuse for personal gains, following it will do nothing except make the country worse.
Our parliment, law and constitution is a joke. It needs to be reviewed and changed. You can't follow something you don't believe in.

No. You represent your own honor, the honor of your mother, sisters, brothers, and father. But given you are asking this question, it is clear you are yourself dishonorable and now hell-bent upon dishonoring the rest of your family. You learnt all the wrong things from America. You could have learnt so much more...

Yes all of it is the 'West's fault', nothing to do with working on society?

Pakistanis are pure, honorable, lovely angels, don't you know?
The evil satanic west wants their v-card.
Pakistanis have to protect those ankles lmao

Can you elaborate what exactly you mean by Sharia being the most unislamic thing?
Like Shariah is unislamic?

English is not my first language and i hope you do not mind being patient.

Sharia law supports stoning of women in case of adultry or pre, martial inter-course. Something that is not a part of Islam.
Sharia law supports triple talaq, again something not part of Islam.
Sharia law orders killing of homo-sexuals or bi-sexual and transgender people which is again not part of Islam.
Sharia law says that in case of R-ape a women must have 4 witnesses, which not only is ridiculous but also impossible and not part of Islam.
According to many, in Sharia law, a woman should totally be covered except hands and feet, which is not what Quran said about covering.
Not only all that but Sharia law allows husbands to beat their wives, something Islam doesn't allow.
It also favours child marriages even though the times have changed.
Sharia law says that if someone commits apostasy (leaves Islam), he should be killed, again unislamic.
Blasphemy law is a huge part of Sharia which is against what islam taught.
It also allows men to have inter-course with their servants/slave women without consent
again
unislamic.

Sharia law needs to end, its the most unislamic and barbaric law on the planet.

I guess my duty here is done.
I will let those with a better understanding of religion to answer your post.
@Divergent1 will help answer most of the questions above as she is very knowledgeable and frequents different Islamic scholars in England.

Do not go to the park as your brother would not like it, this is not America’, my mother scolded me when I insisted on visiting a nearby park. ‘Your elder sisters have never been stubborn like you. They’ve always done whatever their brothers or husbands asked them to do’, my mother was very angry. ‘I want to go there’, I murmured but my mother’s reaction was so annoying that I had to follow her instructions immediately.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Asma and I have recently come back from the U.S. after completing my one and a half year-long fellowship program with a Washington-based non-profit, Atlas Corps.

My mother’s reaction unintentionally dragged me towards my days spent in the United States during the fellowship program. There, I was living in an apartment in Washington D.C. near the Water Front area while the Potomac River was just in front of my house.

What is wrong about going to a park?
Am I just a symbol of honour and respect for the male members of my family while they do not care whether I am happy with this discriminatory behaviour or not?

When my mother stopped me from going out, all of the sudden I felt as I am in a prison where I have to seek the permission of the male members of my family whenever I need to go out of the house. ‘What is so bad about going to the public park?’ I questioned my mother. But instead of my mother, my brother said quickly, ‘I think you forgot that you are in Pakistan now, where the girls have to bear insulting comments, attitude and harassment when they go out. Being a brother, I cannot tolerate that my sister is being victimised by the dirty vulgar comments when she goes out’, my brother almost yelled at me.

Now it has been two months in Pakistan for me. and during these 60 days, every day I question myself, why I am here and why I came back to a place where I am not being treated as a human being made of flesh and bones… Am I just a symbol of honor and respect for the male members of my family while they do not care whether I am happy with this discriminatory behavior or not? Frankly speaking, I have become almost a mental patient now.

‘I am not a human being now. I am just a puppet. Maybe Asma is no more alive’…

I do support equal rights for both male and female. and I do support our Females [specially youngsters] to go out and live their life as per their wishes, Study whatever they want, marry to a Person who they want to marry and it's not imposed on them. but, There are 1-2 "points" in this Particular article which i see "wrong".

1. This dear lady Just finished her 1.5 year stay in USA and just moved back. Now, as per the customs of our society, I can't think of her going to USA without the permission of her family. So, They allowed her to Study for 1.5 year in a far far country but refused to go to park. ? and she just took her Laptop and start writing about the "misery's" of her life. it's called hypocrisy. Now it comes in my mind that if her family can allow her to go USA, why wouldn't they allow her to visit a Park ? I mean, a single girl [without her brother, father] visiting USA and living there for 1.5 year's, still victimize her in the eyes of society, NO ?

2. Maybe she is unaware of the customs. for example, walking in the street, or in any park, You will see many many many families with their "head of the family". She could have asked her brother to take her to Park instead of insisting to go alone. but let's assume she didn't wanted to ask him. Still, she have the right to visit [by her own] any place she wants.

Frankly speaking, I have become almost a mental patient now.

I feel for her. Obviously living here [in Pakistani society] is not that easy for everyone. maana kay in 1.5 year's se pehle ye isi society me rehti the. isi society ne isy education ki opportunities provide ki. par chalo us tarf nahe jaaty. ab agar 1.5 saal ka itna he gehra asar hay to me chaahun ga, balky in kay lye dua karun ga kay Allah or US inko USA ki pakki pakki shehriyat de, taaky inko in masaayb se chutkaara mily.

Qisa Mukhtasar : Banda faryaad b kary or apny haq kay lye awaaz b uthaaye. Par dhooglapan na dikhaaye.

Note : What i think/write is my Opinion. everyone is free to disagree. those who think otherwise should disagree and move-on.

she must be the one to lead us in this "working" instead of cursing herself for returning.

No it's her fault. The West has so much to teach. It's her fault for learning all the wrong things.

Actually it depends. Loose baggy jeans can look just like any other modest bottoms for women, whereas a skin tight abaya can be out right dishonorable.

How is freedom to wear whatever you want, wrong?

And no this isn't 2000BC,
Maybe if your mentality or thinking is stuck in primitive time, but an honor in a piece of garment is no honor at all. Skin tight abaya is in no way dishonorable nor is tight jeans. And surely not dishonorable for the family.

Pakistan would be a much better place if people could be more openminded.

I was in Pakstan and I wore leggings, t-shirts, dresses lol - no one said anything to me. Depends on area too I suppose

Based on the values taught by our religion it is wrong. Pakistan would be a much better place if people could be more religious.

And so, from silence you surmise acceptance? So we should be vocal and call you out as a shameless, immoral libtard to make you understand you are not accepted?
