What's new

Divides in Indian Society.

That I have not disagreed with. What I was trying to mean is, despite not much hype on growth like Gujarat, states like Bengal (despite its economic stagnation), Kerala are performing well, in some cases better.

But you know what, the signals i get is little different ( i might be wrong here) The number of bengali workers in Kerala is growing ever day..... Now it has come to a level where Govt and private buses display boards written in Bengali :what:...... so the remittance what @Spectre was mentioning actually been diverted to these states :)

@scorpionx

Bengal is LOWER on HDI as compared to Gujarat and Maharashtra

And in case of Industry and service sector ; You very well know the picture
That is quite obvious and never claim Bengal to surpass them. But at the same time, those two heavily industrialized states are not number one and number two in HDI, but Kerala and Himachal Pradesh are. My focus was on education and health sector to be precise.

Job opportunity is shrinking and Thanks to the antique land acquisition policy here. But as you mentioned some inherent qualities of an ideal village in Kerala with proper sanitation, schools or health centers, Bengal performs not that bad.

Yes, it is very good that Bihar rejected Modi. It is too bad the rest of India did not do the samething.

Indians are so concerned with Pakistan, when they should be concerned with the evil within, should be concerned with Modi. Pakistan cannot destroy Indian society, Modi is doing that all by himself. The politics of hatred and racism always appeal to the stupid and the poor, so an impoverished area like Bihar rejecting Modi is even more impressive.
If all 'secular' parties unite against Modi, like they did in Bihar, and if BJP is unable to get into real alliances in the future - BJP will lose all of India.

There are two ifs. Very probable ones. I think that will be what the 'secular' forces will be aiming for.

I'm afraid though that the divide in India is hardening with every setback the BJP gets.

There are not disinterested parties any longer.

There is rapidly diminishing real estate in the middle ground as well.

The fence is being sharpened and honed to a knife edge, to the point its going to be extremely difficult (and painfully traumatic) to continue to straddle it any longer.

In that I believe the BJP is actually succeeding. It is mobilizing a large inert populace. And it is hardening the us vs them divide.

Ably supported by the other side as well, as they close ranks.

The larger mass coalescing is thus a byproduct of and reaction to the smaller bits rallying to and around the flag of opposition.

As I said earlier, this is a revolution. And Muslims are bit players, if at all.

Cheers, Doc

So what? From Narasimha Rao onwards, who has not wished to take Indian economy to the heights? Every single politician in Indian affairs with any responsibility at the centre has hoped for that.

And, as you say, he could have asked his people to shut up. As you didn't say, he didn't.
Narasimha Rao had to bring economic reforms due to bankruptcy.
H. D. Deve Gowda and I. K. Gujral were not in the power for much time.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee showed some sincere efforts during the end of his tenure.
Manmohan Singh brought a lot of change which resulted in higher economic growth but lost it in the end.
They may all have hoped to bring economic prosperity and I am not trying to disregard their efforts but Narendra Modi right now is a very strong PM after 30 years who have enuff power and a vision(desire) to take Indian ecnomy to new heights.
ps- I am not a Bakht.

OK..Modi was the best choice that India had, when the general elections happened. What was the second best choice ?
There was never a second best option, neither in 2009 nor in 2014.
